Yeah, saw this on autoexpress.
Haven't dared mention it to my folks yet, who took delivery of their Mk 6 in september!
I too was pretty shocked with how short the lifetime for the mk6 is - Only 3 years.
But if I recall correctly, the Mk6 is just really a facelift of the Mk5, made to look better, but cheaper to build!

Thought the Mk6 was rushed out cos the Mk5 was a flop. So the AutoExpress also and was surprised. Find it hard to believe that the Mk6 is not selling, when dealerships have already sold out their allocations for 2009.

Apparently, the Mk5 was very expensive to build and therefore not as profitable as it should have been. The Mk6 is effectively a modified version of the Mk5 rather than an all new design.
