Experiences with changing an order
Hi Dudes,
Currently waiting for build week 45 for my 'Roc TDI. But now having some regret for ordering a 140ps and wondering if I should go for the 170ps.
So my question is, has anyone out there had experiences on changing their order and how did it affect their build and delivery dates?
As you can imagine build week 45 is miles away, and dont want to push it out any further for 30ps... or should I?
Your thoughts guys?
P

Any changes are gonna affect your delivery time however, if i were you i would still go for it a few weeks longer wait for a much better car for how ever many years you are going to keep the car, it's not as if you can change the engine once you have it, also take a look at the top gear review when it was on the show

they are not keen on the performance of the diesel at all how ever bare in mind they did have the 140PS

My car is now for sale, for just £16,000, fair price so please no silly offers
Re: Experiences with changing an order
have you a confirmed build date?
i changed my colour and added 19 alloys two weeks ago and im on build week 45 was told as not confirmed for then it does not matter, but adding options may make it longer as with changing engines,
best speak as soon as with your dealer who should be able to tell straight away,

Week 45 isn't that far away and they can often build them early. The first thing you should do is contact the dealer and find out if it's too late to make a change. Then you can make a decision.
Personally I'd go for more welly. It's quite a heavy car.

Re: Experiences with changing an order
I tried to make changes to my order, but too late, and was told, that up to 1 week before the start of the build week you can change your order, but after that the order is locked in.
Re: Experiences with changing an order
I was thinking of adding Bluetooth Prep to mine due to be delivered Jan 2010 (but since changed my mind because of poor compatability) and the dealer advised to change something now would affect the pricing of my car and the options already selected due to the September price increase that has occurred in the interim. My current order is price protected apparently. This may not apply to everybody and may be specific to my company car finance arrangement but it would be worth checking on this just in case.
As regards the power issue, it was simply the Top Gear comments that put me off the 140 and made me go for the 170 instead but there seems to be plenty of 140 TDI owners in here that seem content its performance.

Re: Experiences with changing an order
An Update:
Spoke to the dealer today and it seems that my build date has not yet been confirmed anyway. So he seemed sure that it should be no problem to change to a 170, with a 900 squid increase in price of course.
900 squids seems a little much I think, but have heard rumours that its not just a chip upgrade, but rather upgraded manifold, turbo, chip and possibly a slightly heavier clutch... but of course no one I have spoken to can confirm or deny anything... typical! I suppose the increased weight must come from somewhere...
Anyways I keep telling myself that its better to spend 900 on the order and get a full warranty, than spend 400 on a bluefin and run the risk of it being voided at the dealer.
The dealer is going to confirm the change to the order tomorrow once it shows up on the system... will keep all updated.
BTW been bumped from build week 45 to 46 already anyway....

Re: Experiences with changing an order
Spoke to my dealer, and according to VW HQ, if your order is price protected, you are entitled to change your order and changes will be charged at the price of when the first order was placed, so would double check that with your dealer, get them to phone the head office to confirm... Dealer even said that if I decided to go petrol then I would be charged the pre-september prices...JMP wrote:I was thinking of adding Bluetooth Prep to mine due to be delivered Jan 2010 (but since changed my mind because of poor compatability) and the dealer advised to change something now would affect the pricing of my car and the options already selected due to the September price increase that has occurred in the interim. The customer is price protected not the car... apparently!
Anyways, my order has been upgraded to the 170... has pushed out my build date a couple weeks but think i've made the right choice, as I do tonnes of motorway driving and need the grunt...

Interesting... anyway it doesn't matter now as I won't be requesting any changes to my order.monkeyboy76 wrote:Spoke to my dealer, and according to VW HQ, if your order is price protected, you are entitled to change your order and changes will be charged at the price of when the first order was placed, so would double check that with your dealer, get them to phone the head office to confirm...
