I will be getting the RCD510 with my car and would appreciate it if you could pass on the manual to me. Does the RCD510 come with a built in HDD?

the RCD510 does not have the built in hard drive.

I am just getting the ok from the other person concerned but should be able to pop it up later

LOL! I'm assuming your being sarcastic. Only the RNS510 (Sat Nav) has a hard drive built into the head unit. The RCD has an integrated 6 disc changer instead.

its strange but the sales guy told me that it comes with a 30 gig hdd. but then again, he didn't know that the rear seat could fold fwd either...

Evil is quite correct, there's no HD Drive in the RCD, just the RNS.

If it's of use I do have the RNS manual in pdf, just PM me if anyone would like a copy e-mailed. Note that it is a 10Mb attachment so please make sure you can receive the file first!

To sum up...

RNS-510:
DVD player (used for the Nav or can be used for audio/movies)
30GB HDD (10GB is kept for maps)
SDHC Card Reader
Radio
MDI (iPod,USB etc)
or
6CD changer in arm rest (in lieu of MDI) - does not play mp3 cd's

RCD-510:
6CD changer built in (supports mp3's too)
SDHC Card Reader
Radio or Radio & DAB (if ordering DAB)
MDI (iPod,USB etc)

was debating selling an SDHC card that i know have spare from a phone but if the radio will read it i might hang on to it just in case.

Just one small correction to the above. The RNS 510 only supports SD cards up to 2Gb, the RCD 510 supports SDHC up to 32Gb (I think 32Gb is the limit but maybe wrong on this, it's definitely at least 16Gb though)

Trix, keep your SDHC card, I use a 16Gb card in my RCD 510 but you'll find there's a really annoying delay while the unit reads the directory structure before you can select new albums / tracks etc.

edit: Looks like I was talking bull here as usual! Apparently the later versions of the RNS now support SDHC up to 32Gb. Humble apologies

fyi for anyone waiting on me with regard to the RCD510 manual, i'm still waiting to hear from the person who took the time to scan it, if i haven't heard anything by later on i'll load it up anyway.
