So is that new air con controls, reversing camera and a Start/Stop button instead of a key?

correct, the new air con is the one in the golf VI. and the Start/stop is also that the engine turns off when idle, and starts again when pressing the clutch. its also the button, like the mini.

damn i would actually quite like the engine start stop to save on fuel but its a toss up between whether i would wait for that or have my car by then & i think having the car wins.

At first glance I thought it was just the start/stop fuel saving function, but it does specifically say that the key is substituted by a button. Two very useful changes and the push button would add to the sporty feel of the car. I've no idea where they are going to fit a reversing camera though.

mine comes next week i think, and im glad i didnt get these things. (well, i havent seen my car yet, but its supossed to be built by now, so they better not give me these things)

new air con is ugly, too many buttons close together, i like the blue temperature screens on the normal air con

the camera is kind of useless if you have the parking sensors like i do, if it was a camera in the front, then that might help.

the start stop thing is stupid, i mean, i hate the idea of starting the car with a button. on some cars like the micra, the key is loose. and can fall to the floor...etc on other cars like the mini, the key is inserted into the dash, but not the actual metalic key thing, just the whole keyfob i think its called.
starting it with a key is the way cars have been started for years, so why change?

i also wondered where they would put the camera since they cant do it like the new golf, heres a video. over in our spanish forum, someone has already installed a camera ontop of the license plate

i also think they should put a hidraulic boot holder, instead of just the metal rod

The camera would be nice and so would the button to start the engine

however, I don't like the new aircon controlls, looked at them in a passat CC

And although the Start Stop feature sounds a good idea, from what I've heard about the system already used on BMWs, most people turn it off after the first week 'cos it drives them nuts !

So I guess I won't be crying over these changes,

I was already lucky enough to get a 2010 even though I ordered way back in March,

I got the mirror down that works,
I turned my DRLs off with out any problem,
My wipers don't smear ,
My tailgate doesn't rattle,
My tailgate strut bolts aren't rusty,
I don't have any engine rattles yet,
And just a bit of squeaking from the window seals now and then

So i guess I'm doing OK really :)

I would have liked the new climate controls.
I have start/stop button in my BMW 1-series and recently drove a new Porsche Carrera S. It had a standard key and yet it seemed very much sportier :-)

I doubt it'll have actual start/stop, and probably will just have the button. Since in order to have proper start stop, it'll have to have a special battery (which in the BMW's case also gets recharged upon braking) and starter which can cope with much more ignition cycles.

If they keep the same key, then a start button will be of no use. But if they go for a BMW style keyfob which you insert into a slot and then press start, it'll be better!

I've driven with start/stop on two BMWs, and I personally think it's a great system. You no longer sit in traffic watching the fuel gauge going down. After a while you get used to it and putting the foot on the clutch, starts the engine and off you go...
However, not sure I'd trust the VW one especially if no other models have it yet! Also, I doubt it'd work with DSG either.

If it all works fine, I'd say it'd be a good addition to the car...

Instead, I think that it's the start & stop system, just like your Bmw serie1. In order to decrese fuel consumption, many brand are adopted this system on your cars, also Fiat group with its little 500 :)

This is the 10.5 My which will most probably coincide with the first Scirocco R's.
08/11 - 12/13 2.0 TSI R DSG, Black / Black Vienna
01/09 - 08/11 2.0 TSI GT DSG, Black / Truffle Vienna

Black is the new Black....

Would think it will be on both petrols and diesels. MINI, and I'm sure several others - BMW and Audi?, have got it on petrol models in the MINI range.
