Sumatra - nearly here

Post by The Darkness »

Having ordered back in April, and still having not seen sumatra in the flesh, I was a bit nervous heading down to the dealers yesterday to see what I pick up at 8.30 Tuesday morning.

I'm very much relieved. Sumatra is an awesome colour. I'm thinking very dark grey/maroon. I'll post some photos (using a calibrated grey scale) very soon so you can see for yourself if undecided.

Cheers

Congrats there Darkness!

I ordered the Sumatra (German Dark Maroon) too but am thinking of the Pewter Grey (German Beryllium Grey) also.

Would love to hear of your impressions of how this Sumatra fares under different lighting condition. Any yes, let us know of your initial driving impressions too... :yummy:

ah goodie goodie, i've been getting withdrawal symptoms & am now taunted cz my housemate has seen a sumatra round near me :( but i haven't spotted it yet. i'm certainly not having any changes in heart since choosing the colour but definitely in need of seeing some pics of it that i can drool over.

by the way, WELCOME!!! SaRoKo i'm sure if you search through the other posts you will find plenty of examples of the sumatra colour in different light.

There is a Sumatra TDI in a Manchester showroom. Having seen it in the flesh, I would describe the colour as black with a slight hint of gold. It's not deep pure black, like the Dark Black colour option. It's more a very, very dark brown.

"German Dark Maroon" - it is not maroon from what I have seen. I have OK vision! If that is what Sumatra is, then I am pushed to see a maroon element in the paint colour. Nor is it a very dark grey.

Here's a photo from my colour library. I think its a member on this forum or the SciroccoNet forum. I hope they don't mind me posting it up. It's not quite the same colour shade as when seen in person.
