i think thats very nice of you to put her on your insurance & let her drive it but i too think you are absolutely bonkers considering shes only just passed her test, no matter how careful you are after you always have at least one prang in the first few years (i'm testiment to that)

Very brave man!
A work colleague's wife passed her test, and he immediately bought her a brand new people carrier. She scraped the side it within 2 weeks. Various dents and scratches all over it within a year, including two accidents with other vehicles (low speed car park type stuff - still cost thousands though!). Now he wishes he'd bought her a 3 year old car!
He's emigrated and she's been given an old bashed up BMW to drive around now
I'm surprised it costs so little to add her as a named driver (even if it is 'only' 140bhp).
Like suggested, an old Fiesta, maybe even with foam stuck on the edges of the bumpers!
Though not so sure if she'll think you're great though!
The last time I had this happen to me, I just put a plate on the car .... H15 ***. Worked a treat. Got the remark "its too powerful for me and the steering is too heavy" from the other half. She never drove the car again. Me
Chris

thats abit too far jc! all she needs to learn is where the corners are compared to the size of the spaces available which obivously a small car that is guaranteed to fit then when shes completely confident of that she could try the roc which is a tighter fit.
edit: although having said that I have just noticed you have parking sensors on your spec ginger so maybe you'll be safe, well the rear bumper will be anyway
I had a quote for adding my GF to my insurance and it dropped it £80 dispite her being younger and less experienced driver than I am . But I also have the added benefit of her having her car so I shall just refuse her access to mine!
My wife is insured on mine but i've done a good job of convincing her how complicated and hard to use the DSG box is. Amazing how i can convince her it's just an automatic if it means i can have a drink, but it's something akin to rocket science when i want to drive (99.99% of the time)!

Err, but surely the foam is for until she's learnt where the corners are. Older fiestas etc may not have body coloured bumpers so you could probably get away with sticking black foam on them unnoticed
Know a friend who's pranged her boyfriend's car twice even though it had parking sensors. She said she was in a bit of a rush each time...
Of course, I do know girls who are very good drivers too, so don't get the wrong impression!
I see no probs putting your lass on the insurance, what I hate about a hell of alot of people out there on the road is, there just not interested one bit in cars or driving, its just something they have to do, not something they enjoy. There the dangerous dozy ones!! My old bosses wife is a perfect example, that poor car got shit knocked out of it, and her view was, its just a car! Funny when they went to sell it four years ago, even funnier that they still have it cos the state its in. Part of your driving test should be an exam to see how interested you are in driving, not watching some stupid video and clicking a mouse button and answer some super easy multiple choice questions!!
So far so good. Car is in one peice still and I am still sane... just. She is loving driving the car and she says she is starting to realise why I bought it and my I enjoy driving so much. On the down side her style of driving needs a fair bit of improvement before I will be able to relax in the car with her driving. It will come with practice though. Until then I will continue to make full use of the grab handles !!
