can the satnav play dvds... as in films?

Post by pat15312 »

does the satnav allow you to watch dvds? it says it is a dvd navigation after all...
possibly a silly question but its one i dont think has been asked yet.
if its not possible with oem setup, can it be modded?
also, can you get terrestrial tv on the rc510?
again if not possible with oem setup does anybody know if kufatec or similar has already got a solution.
finally, can you only playback mp3/acc/wma off the hdd or can other forms of media be played such as avi/mpeg etc.
cheers

Easy there cowboy :D

Yes, the RNS 510 will play movie DVDs but not when in motion. You can get a plug-in work-around for that though.
You can get a Digital TV receiver for the RNS 510, don't know if it will work on the RCD 510.
Both the RNS 510 and RCD 510 will play a lot of media formats from SD-card / DVD drive, but the MDI interface won't do much else than MP3 because it does its own playing (decoding).

mmm, so where can we find out about this plug-in that makes DVDs work on the go. Not that I would ever do that of course, merely a matter of interest.

Sat nav plays dvd films, whilst stationary. when driving you get sound only.

This is a great site with lots of info on whats available for the oem systems.... http://vwnavi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51

I'd like rear view camera and tv at some point. 8)

Did not want to start a new thread for this simple (yet important) question:
