Got to be honest, i dont spend much time on here. Most of my time is spent on Net.

Does anyone think there would be a benefit in the two joining forces?

I see a few members on here that are regulars on both.

Yeah I tend to spend most of my time on Net. Obviously being a mod on there has something to do with it. There is some mileage in the two joining forces but I bet if they did some bright spark would only start another Scirocco forum to fill the gap. Think there is definitely room for two forums and it's nice to be able to flit back and forth.

There are some great peeps on both, pooling knowledge cant be a bad thing tho!

Would be great if we could find away to bring the two together a little.

Kianok, it certianly is like BBC repeats for topic subjects on both but the info is different sometimes. Would be better to pool.

I could understand two forums if they were pproviding something completely different.

i'm in the same boat as Evil being a Mod on scirocconet i spend most of my time on net for obvious reasons,the question of two forums or one super forum who knows whats best

I think as ED said, if we joined, someone would just create another forum, so back to square one!

They both have value, its down to choice i guess, but id love to see the events merged a least.

Thanks for joining us and posting while net's down.

I joined both at the start and occasionally post on net but found net to be very cliquey so central became my favoured forum and then I was made a mod so obviously this is where my loyalties lie.

Do you know what's wrong with your forum chaps?

From experience of clubs, if the pressure was there, the peeps would do it anyway irrespective of there being two now.

Lol, it's funny how most of net have hijacked this thread. Have to say thought there it is a good thing having a couple of forums, although I'm sure (know) there's a hell of a lot duplicated info!

Why did this situation evolve?

Central started at the end of July last year.
About 3-4 months later Net started up. I think we had about 150 members and about 2000 posts at that point.

We've both been doing pretty well. Just to let you know there's no animosity between the sites, me and Tony do chat from time to time.

We have discussed a merger in the past. It's a slightly complicated process involving a lot of database work but it is worth trying if we ever agree to it.

There are pros and cons.
We would have a bigger force of people and knowledge and 'clout' when it comes to organising things, getting discounts or arranging sponsorship etc.
The downside is that it's a complicated thing to do and one or both sites would have to shut to either let one name take over or you create a brand new one with new merchandise and identity etc.

As both are pretty big now we may have passed that point at which it was doable but you could always just create a brand new site anyway and everyone re-registers and starts a fresh. It would only 2-3 weeks to build up the content again as there's a certain amount of repetition on both sites with people asking the same things as they join the 'club'. For instance, how many times have we seen the ipod cable question

Hijack was potentially the wrong word. What I meant was most of the Net regulars are on this thread.
