Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
First outing at the pod after the Superchips and Milltek, sat with LC holding the revs car sounding a bit fruity raring to tear up the strip lights hit 2nd amber foot off the brake pedal and......... Judder the revs fall off the dash flashes 5 seconds later the car accelerates away without any real urge. I pull off the strip wonder what the hell was going on slow up to put it into reverse to park up and the DSG refuses to move, eventually after a few attempts and pushing it into park (with force) I realise the gearbox is cooked and wondering how the hell I am going to explain to VW how it happened and what the mods on the car were
ahh well stil pulled a 14.2 out the bag in standard for us just wish I could have had a few more attempts that day with the mods as I only managed a 14.3 and I kept faffing up my starts!!! as miserbaly demonstarted in ryans vid

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
I kerbed my left front on day 1 as I wasn't used to the width but nearly worse than that was missing being t-boned by someone who ran a red light (by a mile) at the junction at the end of my road. I suspect the driver and passenger had been chatting and not noticed the lights. I pulled out of my side road and looked right to see a fiesta that was clearly going too fast to stop. I booted it and saw the driver with her hand over her mouth in shock wondering what had happened. Missed me by about a foot or so.

Stick with it dude, could end up in Small Claims Court though. I wouldn't let someone driving a shed get away with it. Those Mondy bumpers are a joke, they're as strong as egg shells!Spiney wrote:Hi MKAndyMKAndy wrote:Didn't you get his Reg mate? I'll be looking for a quote next week for repair but looks like the dents will need pulling out and then a complete bonnet respray, around £250.
Many thanks for your feedback. Yep, I did get the reg and reported it to the Police who groaned when they realised they had to fill out a form. Frankly after other experiences with the Police over the years (on the right side ) I'm not expecting much help. Expect I'll get a victims support leaflet through the door any day
I think the best I can hope for is to cause the guy as much grief as possible, oh well

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
Had mine 2 days when I was reversing out of garage the off-side front wheel arch scraped the roller door guide, I managed to get the white paint marks off but was left with 2 small scratches, don't know how much this will cost, but I took my frustrations out on the garage and nearly broke my foot and with all the swearing and shouting, I don't know what the neighbours thought was happening.
p.s. the garage has wall to wall carpet now.

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
2 days in and I parallel park behind a P-reg suba estate. Whilst sitting in my friends house in full view of my prized posession i see a lady and her husband reversing in the suba...she reverses with plenty room behind and infront to easily pull out on to the street. She over reverses into the front of mine & all I hear is a lovely cracking sound.
Bitch had a towbar on the back and it cracked my grill. Although only 2 of the little honey comb parts have a crack running through them (in the centre) and noone else can see them.... I CAN!!! And I've been told just to leave it and not bother getting a quote by family...but the lady didnt even say sorry. She just shrugged her shoulders and said she heard the crack too. And i guarantee had i not ran out and caught them they would have driven off as they were looking round to see who saw!
I can see where shes hit my reg plate too. What should i do??? the grill is definately cracked. Leave it? or get a quote and get the old doll back for stabbing me in the heart???!!!!

You must get a quote for repairs ASAP and inform her you will also be claiming for your no claims discount. Do have the car inspected as very often with this sort of impact there can be unseen damage such as the radiator being bent back and also make sure all the lights function properly.SophieScirocco wrote:2 days in and I parallel park behind a P-reg suba estate. Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
oh no i feel for you Sophie, towbars are evil!! a mate of mine impaled her focus' front bumper on one at less than 5mph, was lucky not to have to drive home with the bumper on the back seat!
maybe get a quote from the garage & see exactly how much £ damage has been done you don't want to have to pay out if you decide to fix it later.

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
i was happy to have a towbar once in the past on my old Cavalier SRi (many moons ago)
I got rear ended coming out of a supermarket carpark,
The guys grill was a "V", his bumper was a "V", his radiator was a "V" and dumped his coolant all over the floor!
I straightened the rubber dust cover on my tow ball and left him to push what was left of his car home

,
If you got the registration number you could consider telling your insurer about it and try to get them to pursue the matter for you. If the other vehicle was insured, your insurers will be able to trace his insurers through the Motor Insurers Database. You'll still need to be able to show that he caused the damage but it will be useful that you reported it to the police. Good luck.

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
Thanks mpu,
Did consider going down this route but don't want to run the risk of jepordising my no claims. Think I'll see what the police come back with first but like I said before I'm not holding my breath! If I can get his insurance company I may take it up direct with them. Last time I needed my insurers to pursue a claim (esure at that time) they were useless. I'm now with Churchill and haven't needed to put them to the test so don't really know if they are any better.

timhigginbotham wrote:A little embarrassing this one, but I managed to lock my keys in the boot (I opened the boot using the key fob, dumped a load of stuff in and without realising the keys went in too). Once the boot was closed - clunk - car locked up - DOH! Many things made it worse - I blocked my girlfriend in on the drive, so she couldnt get out & was due to go on holiday that day. Also my spare keys were at home 60 miles away & my wallet inside the car. It was a disaster. VW Assist sent out the RAC who were useless - they wanted me to sign a disclaimer before trying to break in. No chance! Though he did advise to get a copy of the key as at least it would allow me to get in (but obviously wouldnt start the car) - interesting idea.In the end I had to call a lock smith to break into my house so that I could retrieve the spare set.
I hope no one else makes the same stupid mistake i did.
I feel for you !!!
Yet I am so glad I read this! Type of thing I would & probably will do!!! Not having a pop the trunk button hidden somewhere on the back has its minus', but still... it looks great!

Thanks Jack, that's great. I just called the VW garage and the garage is open Monday, will hopefully be able to get it assessed asap! It happened on the 31st Aug, hope I haven't left it too long.

Re: Your worst scirocco moment?
I woke up this morning to find this... definitely my worst Scirocco moment. Even worse than spending 10 hours on a VW Assist pick-up truck!
