Blackberry and Premium Bluetooth Kit - WORKING PERFECTLY!

Post by pat15312 »

Hi all.
If, like me, you were extremely worried about wether or not the rather expensive VW premium bluetooth kit was going to work with your blackberry, FEAR NOT!
I can confirm that i have sucessufuly paired my BLACKBERRY BOLD with the premium kit yesterday.
The steps that i took were as follows.
1. Turn on bluetooth on the blackberry.
2. On VW premium kit, start searching for devices (this is done through the MFD)
3. On blackberry, start searching for devices. Choose to LISTEN.
4. The MFD will display 16 numbers. Mine was: 3333 4444 5555 6666
5. Type the 16 number code into the Blackberry.
6. It will now ask for a PIN number. If your phone has one, enter it in now using the up and down arrow key to select numbers.
7. If, like me, you don't have a pin number, scroll until you see an OK button and press it.
8. Your done! it should now start importing numbers from your address book into your phone.

Annybody has any questions, feel free to PM me :)

Good news that somebody has had success with the VW phone kit, gives hope to others that have ordered the kit.

I have a Blackberry Storm and it connected perfectly in the first go. Problem is, it doesn't download my phone book. i have tried copying a few numbers on the sim card for it to pick up but still no luck. Its very frustrating. The phone is inoperative because the VW system hijacks it. I don't know any numbers by heart so its a real pain.

The Bold (9000) is the only Blackberry that will work with that kit as it supports RSAP (remote sim access profile). The other Blackberry models do not. The original poster was lucky to have picked the right handset. Hope you dont intend to change it any time soon :(

Bold(9000), Javelin(8900) and Storm(9500) all have remote sim access profile. My Storm got connected and all calls work but it just doesn't download the phonebook :grumpy:
The Mrs. has a Javelin, will try and connect that and see if the phonebook will copy.
Here are a couple screen shots of my Blackberry Storm.

Maybe someone can help me connect mine?! I can pair my BB 9000 fine, but everytime it connects the signal goes off after about 30 seconds (VW UHV Prem setting on the handset says Encryption is disabled, services list has voice gateway and object push.).

Must be a Blackberry issue as an old nokia with the same sim card (and my mate's iPhone) stays connected. Any ideas? Info / Help from VW, O2 and RIM is non-existant.

Cheers,

Beno

Beno, did you resolve this. I'm having the same problems. BB 8900 pairs OK and downloads the address book but looses the network connection periodically.

Hi Ian,

No. A mate with the same BB reckons his Audi has the same kit and works perfectly after his dealership did a software update. Asked the Doncaster VW dealership a couple of times if there was an update - they promised to come back to me and never did. Incidentally, bought a couple of HTC Desires for staff and they wouldn't even connect.

Cheers Trix. That reminds me the dealership also said they'd supply me a list of rSAP/approved handsets, but never did!

Thanks for replying Beno. The site doesn't really help with my issue. As I can pair the phone without a problem, it must be a problem with the corporate O2 newtwork I use.

Has anyone had the same experience?

Also Ian I have the network problem but with 3 network?? Pairs fine with my nokia 5800 but will not pick the network up...when it does it seems to be so out of the blue?

Definitely network problem has it was working fine when i originally had it.
I need to wait until next year so I can change networks, going to go t-mobile has they seem to be the only one that connect straight away with no problems.

Darren, when you say 'latest premium kit' - does that mean I may have an older version? Mine came as new on my 09 plate.
I did ask for a compatibility list but Hayselden's never sent it. I'm now building my own list... BB 9000 - doesn't work, HTC Desire - doesn't work, Nokia N8 - doesn't work...

Beno

firstly; don't bother with the list of compatible phones, see http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... ble_Phones" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (not an exhaustive list but covers the large percentage, but generally the phone must have rSap capability)

secondly; since week 22 this year approximately a revised bluetooth system (which is the one Darren mentions) has been fitted to factory orders which works as proper bluetooth not just rsap bluetooth which is what your system most likely is in an 09plate car. people have swapped out the rsap box for a full bluetooth box either from skoda (see http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... _Bluetooth" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or the new revised VW box (see http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... sap#p56255" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Hope that helps

Thanks Trix, that's brilliant.

I just wish someone at VW had told me that before I got this daft Nokia! Hopefully I can send it back...

Cheers,
