Thanks... It was just a small glimer of hope I had, My Roc is being built as I write.... Build week 27. I Didn't order Zenons based on the Price of bulb. But from his quote, I had hoped it was a new standrad change to the build for 2010 roc's... but it was wishfull thinking :p
maisbitt wrote:Looks like Matt got a system grab of a car that was due to be built anyway, with Xenons already specced - possibly a cancelled order or dealer stock car with no allocated buyer. That lead time is too short to have been ordered from scratch for him.

I only had to wait 2 weeks for my Scirocco, as it had already been built.

I got a cancelled order too...

Order was placed on 19th June, and im taking delivery on Thursday (just under 4 weeks)

The long order times actually did me a big favor as this is a company car. My company left it too late before agreeing to my car as they thought all cars would be easy to get at the moment. So when i went to place my order and got quoted 14 weeks (and my old car was going back in 4) there was a problem.... but they offered me a cancelled order with some extras including panoramic roof which im sure the company wouldnt have gone for.... but seeing as they promised delivery the day before my old car goes back to the lease company they agreed to it. :D

To be honest although its only been 4 weeks ive been getting quotes and waiting for the powers that be to sign it off for much much longer so probably averaged out to the 12-14 weeks that the rest of you seem to be quoted.

I ordered mine in the first week of June. Leasing company told me yesterday it is due for build in week 35 (24th August) with delivery 4 weeks after. This is a few weeks out from the 10-12 weeks I was quoted at ordering but not the end of the world (if it actually turns up).

She explained the delay due to VW closing the factory in August. When I pointed out that she had just said the car would be built in August she stumbled and said 'they only close it for a few weeks!'. Is it true the factory closes in line with European holiday season?

Last year (2008) the factory was closed from August 1 through 14 (http://www.autoeuropa.pt/categories/rel ... autoeuropa ; journal 125, page 4). I guess it'll be the same this year, maybe even 3 weeks if I have to rely on the info my dealer gave me.

The journals also give you a behind the scenes peek of the factory where our beloved car is crafted.
And the wait continues... :kickcan:

Thanks Xcal, thats really useful and gives me a bit more faith in the leasing company! Has anyone else had experience of a 16 week wait / ordered in early June?

Seems like the wait time of 16 weeks is quite standard at the moment then. Just dont have much faith in my leasing company as theyre not particularly proactive at keeping me updated. Is 6 weeks from buld to delivery the average? I was hoping for closer to 4 so I can take it away at the end of the summer, could be wishful thinking!

I spoke to the dealer today and was told that it has been built this week and is on way to Germany for testing. She said to expect it first few weeks of August, so hopfully 3 weeks from build to delivery. We'll see!

Hi guys: some-time reader, first-time poster :)

I put my order in on 14 June and the dealer tells me I have a build week of 36, so I'm being told to expect delivery mid-late September. Now I just need to get rid of my vRS Octavia...

Can't wait - especially as I saw another deep black this morning (Cameron Toll, Edinburgh).

How come you ordered 3 weeks after me and are getting it a lot sooner! Im guessing you've pinched someones car, cancelled order or such sort.

Does anyone have concrete experience of what the time is from build to delivery in the UK? Is 3-4 weeks avergae?

I'm not totaly convinced by the delivery date - after talking to the dealer I think they are going to put it back a bit.

Was given a confirmed build date of next week though - not sure how it's sooner than yours? - might have something to do with spec choice?

Hello All,

its amazing how informative this forum is. Good work everyone!

I am a newbie and in the process of ordering a 1.4TSI ( via a broker) in the next 2 days.

I was told that the build slot is getting full and if i don;t commite, i would not get the car til march 2010 and would have to pay for the 3% september increase, as well as the VAT returning back to 17.5%( even if i order it even during August).

you guys have any views on this? Is the salesman trying to push me ( as a salesman would naturally do) to commit? Or is he for real?

also, if i order this week ( with the multifunction steering wheel as option) do you think i will get the one with the chrome parts a la Golf? or it will be the black plastic one with the small round buttons that looks like they are from my TV remote?

i have read post elsewhere about changes to be made for Roccos built later in 09.

thanks

:welcome: to the forum!

The MY2010 (MY = Manufacturing Year) changes on the Scirocco have already been introduced and any car delivered from approximately one month ago (and therefore all Sciroccos delivered in the future) have the new changes. The most obvious changes are the new MFSW (multi function steering wheel), a la Mk6 Golf, and a new instrument cluster, which has a white MFD (Multi Function Display). Therefore the changes to the Rocco which you have read about, have already happened :)
