Re: Just ordered
No it won't, don't listen to him. It'll drag like buggery. Ordered mine 22/04 which seems like six years ago, not six weeks, and I still have 'till end of July to go. It'll be particularly difficult on hot days where you just want to go driving in it.
There. Good luck with your wait.

Re: Just ordered
I'm used to waiting - all my cars seem to have ended up being factory orders over the years.
Still lots of reading up to do in advance

Re: Just ordered
That's the bonus of the forum to be fair, there's plenty to learn on here before the bad boy arrives and actually I'm about half way in now so it's not all bad...
Re: Just ordered

Re: Just ordered
y didn't you want to wait till the 59 plate coz you are very late in the reg that you car will seem 5 months older when you go to sell it
My car is now for sale, for just £16,000, fair price so please no silly offers

Re: Just ordered
I'm not worried about the residuals which will show a minimal difference over the 4 years I'll have the car - so rather get it as soon as possible.

On Ship
Decided to annoy the sales staff today whilst my other half was in collecting the Passat from its service.
The roc's "on ship" at the moment so should be here in 7 - 10 days. About spot on for the salesman's estimate of mid-August after the build date had been confirmed.
Although I guess the on ship status could mean it's anywhere from just leaving Portugal to just outside the UK ports, so we'll see.

Re: Just ordered
ARGH!
Just had a call from one of the business managers at the dealership who has been dealing with the paperwork - "believe you have a handover tomorrow". I wish, but that's news to me. Sounds like it could be good news that the car's sitting there with the dealer now. Apparetly the system can take a while to catch up so while a status may be showing "Awaiting Shipping", the car could be nearer the UK before it updates to On Ship.
Fingers crossed I can pick up sometime this week.

Even better than I was expecting. Was sitting inside the showroom when I arrived at the dealer. First time I've seen a GT up close, the dark rear glass finishes it off nicely (especially in white). DSG box is so smooth, up through the gears before you realise it.
Shame I'm back in the office. So more playing this evening.

Re: It's Here!
Holy thread resurrection etc.....
But 3 years down the line, I'm surprised I still have the car. Normally I get bored after 18 months, the Scirocco seems different. Maybe it's cos it was specced to the hilt as a keeper or (and) maybe it's that it's a damn decent car that still people comment on.
Had a blip a couple of months ago cos my commute went from 15 miles to 2.5 miles, and diesels and DPF don't tend to like that sort of journey, but we've got over it and the commute's about to change again.
Here's to possibly another 3 years happy Rocing.
