Hello all,
Looking for some answers as there is little to no information online from what I’ve found so far.
I have a facelift Scirocco, 2016 1.4 TSI. Visibility out of the back when reversing is abit rubbish and want to fit a RVC.
The car I have has the ‘composition media’ head unit, the one with the single vertical SD card slot on the left.
From what I’ve read so far, the ‘discovery media’ unit has two vertical SD card slots on each side and has navigation. Each can take a RVC, however may need programming.
I’d ideally like to install a RVC that is the ‘flip’ kind.. as in, replace the rear badge. This is where my problem starts.
The car currently has the boot release as the rear badge, so it’s possible to retrofit the flip camera in its place. Has anyone here done this? Is there enough space for it? Does it work?
I’m running into conflicting information amongst the little information there is out there online, some clarity would help!
Thank you
Fitting rear view cameras. The flip badge type.

I’m looking at the samething, will start taking boot apart after measuring badge size to see if other models have the same size

Re: Fitting rear view cameras. The flip badge type.
you cant add a flip badge, the scirocco badge is much smaller than a mk6 etc, iv fitted a few, and i can link you to a real good 1080p one, as i bought loads and tried them, and one was miles better than others, i also got a real scirocco mounting, i did them all without removing the bumpers,
I offer Power fold mirrors installs, Cruise control installs, Coding, mirror folding on keyfob etc. i'm in Stockport,Manchester

Hey From what I know, if you have the "composition media" unit instead of the "discovery media," swapping the rear badge for a flip camera could be a bit tricky. The badge is designed in a specific way, and there might not be enough space for the camera without some modifications. Some people do install cameras in different spots, but it usually requires some custom work.
As for the RVC itself, it might need programming, especially if you're upgrading from the "composition" unit to one with a camera. It’s best to check with a VAG specialist who can give you precise advice on what fits your model.
Hope that clears things up a bit
