AC hasn’t worked since my partner had the car but now the weather gets hotter it’s time to address it.
For reference, a screenshot of a new AC compressor is attached below for comparison.
After looking online it appeared there was a lot of talk about the clutch plate bolt shearing off for the AC compressor and it looks as though it has.
Although the replacement kits seem to be related to the Delphi range of AC compressors, not the Denso.
Is this likely someone over torquing the clutch plate or something instead, or a common problem on these too?
I guess my question is, would this be the cause of an AC leak and what are my options? New AC compressor, or is there a similar kit to the Delphi version X8R https://x8r.co.uk/air-conditioning-a-c- ... r-kit.html or is it still worth hunting further for leaks? Or does it just need a new AC clutch perhaps?
I’ve tried UV dye but couldn’t see any leaks (admittedly before seeing the face of the AC compressor clutch).
Appreciate the help in advance!

Re: AC Leak - Compressor?
They replaced the inlet/outlet valves on my AC system, and so far it has worked well. Not really DIY though.

Re: AC Leak - Compressor?
I’ve heard those are quite common to cause leaks, is that the schrader valves? it might be worth me replacing these first to see if that resolves the issue.
Is it possible to see if these are leaking refrigerant with soapy water/spray before I purchase some new inlet / outlet valves and blindly replace?

Re: AC Leak - Compressor?
Problem is you have to evacuate the refrigerant before replacing the valves. Valves were cheap, but the R134a was not.
I don't know if the soap bubble method would work, but I suspect not.

Re: AC Leak - Compressor?
Bubbles will form, usually slowly, because of the escaping gas.
