Hi everyone.
I've wanted to change my stereo unit for quite a while, but I'm just concerned that the process will be complicated. How easy is it to change from the standard stereo unit in your Scirocco to one with CarPlay?
If it's as simple as plug and play, I'd happily try and sort it myself, but what do people recommend? I've seen a couple of recommendations on AliExpress but I'm not sure if you have to buy a specific unit for your model. I drive a 2011 GT 2.0 TDI 170 model if that helps.
Any help and recommendations on CarPlay units would be appreciated.
Cheers!

I'm using a Junsun V1 Pro stereo. Got lucky and managed to snatch it for 50 Euro. It's the 8GB RAM model.
Is it really good? No. If you want a good android experience, it's quite buggy with probably no chance of getting proper support and updates. Ignoring that, the carplay experience is really good. Wireless carplay works flawlessly, the screen quality is nice. Touch is responsive. Steering wheel controls work. Had one connection issue since i've got it half a year ago.
Installing was a breeze, one facia on clips and four screws. Then just remove the old one and install the new one. Took 15 minutes. Setting up the software can be tricky, but i've found what i needed on other forums.
The biggest downside about it for me is that the lowest brightness setting is a little bit too bright when driving at night.
I doubt i would be happy if i paid 350 Euros for it, but again, i got lucky and i'm satisfied. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
