DCC Shock Absorbers

Post by Rusty1111 »

Hi all,

Have just had my car serviced and been told that the rear near side shock absorber is a gonner... They had a look at getting one from VW and they are saying £330 so I would like to explore getting one by other methods...

Does anyone have any experience in figuring out part numbers and which are compatible? I have a 2011 TDI Bluemotion TDI.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty much any DCC damper is going to be that kind of money unless it's used unfortunately.

Also unfortunately the rears are sided (the fronts aren't)

Same here - and after ONLY 150,000 miles of driving !

I've been quoted £830 to supply and fit both rear shocks by a local independent, possibly a bit less.

Was the £330 you mention just for the component, or labour as well?

I had an advisory on my rear right shock leaking.

I knew they would be expensive but that’s more than I expected, I’m going to look at going to a full set coilovers, it currently on H&R springs & it’s always driven in Sport mode anyway .
