Project Timing chain
So my timing chain stretched and jumped so I'm having a go at fixing it... I'll post updates in the thread as I go.

Re: Project Timing chain
Finally got the cylinder head off after delays as I needed tools for the crank and the polydrive/ribe M10 cylinder head bolt socket.
Valves are bent as expected. The pistons seem fine but there was a bit of damage from the chain on the lower timing cover which I thought was interesting.

Re: Project Timing chain
Just collected my cylinder head after getting it rebuilt with new valves! I thought it was best off letting someone who knows what they are doing and has the right machining tools do it. I'm really happy with it.

Re: Project Timing chain
I called 3 dealerships for the price of cylinder head bolts and they want £8.39 each x10 £83.90..... Elring ones are £30 - 40 but people rave about sticking with the genuine ones.

Re: Project Timing chain
Practice run timing it up before I seal the rocker cover down. That's the new timing chain and guides.

Re: Project Timing chain
Well done on Doing this yourself.
I think its safe to say most of us wouldn't attempt this just of the fear of fecking it up lol
If i ever take the engine out, the whole things getting rebuilt haha

Getting there. That's the engine closed up now. I am just waiting on a new water pump tomorrow.

Re: Project Timing chain
IT'S IN!! Now that was a struggle. Trying to get it to line up to the 3 engine mounts without it breaking itself or anything else was a pain. I'd love to know why both mounts for the engine crane are on the same side of the engine so it constantly tilts towards the car.

£16 5mx8m tarp was the best thing I've bought for this lol. It was raining hard and here I am sitting on my rug torquing bolts outside.
