OK, maybe a bit dramatic,
I got a free supaguard (and factory bluetooth!) due to the delay on my car, i figured it would get it through the winter at least, make it easier to wash and means i don't have to be out waxing the car in the middle of january when the car was delivered. Mistake! It's gone really sticky and gummy feeling, it's horrible. everything sticks to it and it feels rough and grippy after you wash it.
After talking to Paul at Wonder detail, he says it sounds like 'sticky paint', a phenomenon associated with these types of sealants, where it goes gummy when you try to machine polish it, and could take him two days work with the polisher to put it right. Fingers crossed it won't be that bad. I want to use my swissvax best of show wax, but i want it clayed and machine polished before hand to remove the rough bits, swirls and scratches to make a really stunning job of it. It's rising blue which will look awesome waxed i reckon. Once it's done it'll be great, at the moment you can't even get flys off it, they just sink into the gummyness.
He's coming here on thursday to evaluate.

Re: Supaguard nightmare!!!
Hi David,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the supaguard.
Jim comes from a paint background and has done a lot of work with sealants so if you need a second opinion at all we'd be happy to help
All the best

Re: Supaguard nightmare!!!
Thanks Taryn.
Actually i think it's going to be OK, i was just panicing a bit. The surface does seem to get ingrained a little more easily, and feel sticky more easily than usual, as if the supaguard doesn't get quite as hard as paint does. The shampoo i'm using is mild (swissvax car bath) and isn't able to lift it, so it tends to feel sticky after washing. It's not easy enough to wash as it is at the moment, and that's been the problem, this stickyness (dirt and contaminents) has built up since january. So maybe i'm too quick in criticising the Supaguard.
I did an experiment on one panel though- clayed, cleaner fliud and waxed and it seems to be OK, felt pretty slick after just a spray and wipe down with detailing fluid actually. Going to give it a week of dirt build up and see how well it washes and if it's all good i'm just going to leave the supaguard on and wax over the top. Paul is still coming to take out some localised stratches on the bonnet and drivers sill and i'll get his opinion on it at the same time obviously. So i think it'll be 100% with little work, the problem i believe can happen when you start trying to cut through supaguard, apparently it can go gummy and be a nightmare to polish through.
I throurougly cleaned and autobahn waxed the wheels the other day, took bloody hours. i wish i'd done that from the start as there was a lot of tar and brake dust build up. They're slippery as a slippery thing now though

Re: Supaguard nightmare!!!
Rising Blue looks fantastic with a good wax on it. Mine is currently wearing Swissvax Devine at the mo for durability but I don't think there is really any difference looks wise to Best of Show.

Re: Supaguard nightmare!!!
It was funny watching the rain bead off the bonnet yesterday compared to the other panels (the only panel i've waxed as a tester-we're doing the whole car on thursday). I totally agree though, it's a great colour and will look the nuts when it's all done. Always looks better in the wet which is a good indicator of how it'll look waxed.
