How much oil does your TSI go through?
Mine hasn't used a drop in 4.5K, was wondering if that's generally the case with the new unit, or is mine unusual? I ran it in more gently that usual, i doubt that's got much to do with it though. All the FSI , TFSI engines we've had in the past tended to go through a litre of oil every few thousand miles or so.

Mines gone thru a litre in 2500 miles. I also ran in pretty gently, luck of the draw I guess. Have to see how it goes from here
My last car a MK5Gti burned a bit for a few K but then settled down. I do a lot of short journeys though

We have an A3 2.0 TFSI (same as the mkV Gti engine) and that still uses a little bit, but less than it used to. Has nearly 70K miles on it now in three years.
I'll probaly find my 'roc is missing about a litre of oil next time i check the dip stick
edit; nah, just checked it, still right on the max line. I did spend most of the first couple thousand miles playing the MPG game (not much else to do on the A68), but figured it would start using oil when i started using all the revs but it hasn't.

Does the engine have a low oil level warning system?
(not just the pressure )

I checked the oil level on my 2L TSi at 300 miles and the level was on the Max level line.
I checked it again at 1300 miles and the level was on the Minimum level line which means it used 1L in that 1000 miles.
VW told that this is within acceptable limits and that by the the time I get to 5K oil consumption should have reduced a lot and leveled out.
For most of that first 1300 I'd been quite gentle with it though at around 1100 miles I pushed it quite hard on a couple of motor way runs.
Don't know if that's when it used up most of that Liter.
A solid red oil can tells you that oil pressure is low and a flashing yellow oil can tells you there is a problem with the oil sensor and you need to get it seen by a mechanic.

Yes. I haven't got the manual in front of me at the mo but if I remember rightly a solid yellow oil can on your dash tells you oil level is low.pdcman wrote:Does the engine have a low oil level warning system?
