I have seen many posts on this forum, with varying degrees of success for de-activating this pointless feature.
I received my Roc nearly 4 weeks ago. The dealer assures me that the latest models cannot be deactivated no matter what! He has been on to VAG and they confirm this.
Does any one know of any UK VW dealer that has successfully switched these DRL off on a recent Roc?
I'm interested too. Was advised earlier in a different thread that Arthur Prince have done it. See below....

Could you tell me which dealer knows how to do this? I'm collecting next week and want to have them turned off too. I'd be handy to be able to reference a dealership who knows how to do it when they tell me it can't be done!
If you are in the London area I can recommend someone in central London with the VAGCOM software and cable who will do it for you for £10 if you travel to him.
(or maybe a bit more if he travels to outer London for you).

He switched my DRL's off a few weeks ago and also activated the bleep for when the car is locked and unlocked.
Also switched off my seat-belt warning alarm for me (and yes I do always ware a seat-belt).

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has had a recent delivery and been able to turn them off.
The dealer who manages to crack this one should clean up...

As far as I know you CAN do it if you have the Xenon's - Just follow the manual. If you have the halogen head-lights though these instructions do not work

My car has Xenons and the instructions in the manual do not work.
I'm happy to have them, on the xenons that's all they do so you'd have two obsolete lights on the front if you switch them off.
I nearly drove into some idiot yesterday (well technically it would have been my fault), driving a drzzle grey mercedes, at dusk, in the rain. It was at a slow junction in a village where you kind of file in turn, this thing was so invisible and moving so slowly it registered in my vision as a parked car, everyone else had sidelights on atleast. I recommend keeping thwem on, depending on the colour of your car, if it's camoflage pewter that dissapears into the background i'd leave 'em on. Could prevent someone like me from driving into your scirocco.
Thanks DavidH for the warning. Maybe you're right, I've just got a real downer on daytime driving lights. Thing is they'll maybe help protect the few that use them now cause we all think "why's he got his lights on" but if we all use them all the time then I think they just become distracting and prevent us spotting the bike that's overtaking the car we thought we could pull out in front of!!!

P.S. What part of the country do you drive around
I know what you're saying, actually the auto lights would have switched the lights on anyway in those light levels.
If you're ever driving through Corbridge in Northumberland, at dusk, when it's raining, remember to put you're lights on. Or you might just have some rising blue added to your pewter!

The manual is very contradictory in as much as in one paragraph it says dealer only then goes on to the procedure.
My post delivery snags have been fixed at the dealer, and the car was delivered back to me today, with all my niggles sorted, including the daytime running lights. Now I get to choose if I want the lights on!
Did the dealer say how they managed to disable the lights?
Is your Roc new within the last 4 to 8 weeks?
If so, this might be the breakthrough we have all been looking for.....

After you did this, do the sidelights still come on when lights are set to auto?

I'm sure I'd seen somewhere on this forum that the dealer who supplied my car was doing this for those who asked.
I insisted on the lights being off - it's not a legal requirement - and (just in case) made sure they had a copy of the instructions from the following thread: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... hts#p20351
No lights on at the front or rear when driving or stationary. Just as God intended......

Congratulations QR. I've only just noticed your follow-up post. I think you really are the first.
Maybe you should put this info in a new thread / topic confirming it's been done. I think there will be plenty of Roc owners who'll want to try this now.
