Hi Ken,

Does that mean it has definitely left the factory before the shut down? Mine is also Build Week 28 and I'm advised that unless the car is outside the factory gates it'll now be stuck inside till everyone returns from holiday in 3 weeks time!

I was under the impression the factory wasnt shutting for hols this year........but no-one seems to know for sure....besides we arent going to take delivery till September regardless of when it turns up.

Thanks Kem,

Bit of an update..... Spoke with the dealer on Friday and mine has already been to Germany for inspection and arrived on the UK dock, wherever that is. Should be picking up on Wed 22nd. After the long wait things seem to be happening amazingly quickly now. To say I'm just a little excited would be a damn lie! :hyper:

I had a conversation with my VW dealer this afternoon and he said the factory in Portugal won't shut down for 3 weeks this summer due to unprecedented demand. However, he did hint at the factory being run with a reduced staff. Sounds kinda fishy to me. Either you run the factory with full staff or shut down.

Who knows the truth about the summer shut down.

Just thought I'd throw in my two-penneth worth

Build date's just been pushed back 4 weeks :grumpy:
I ordered middle of week 22, and given a estimated build date of week 30. Just been told by the dealer that it's now week 34
I'm wondering if this anything to do with the factory's holiday period. I know there are a couple of other forum users who also had week 30. Have you been delayed too?

I emailed my lease guy today cause he said I would be in week 30. However in his reply today he said he had no confirmation as yet and that VW are 2/4 weeks behind.

So does this mean another month or do they just send confirmations late ? doesn't sound right if they do.

If they are 2/4 weeks behind then it's very very recent. Mine was scheduled BW 28 and by the end of that week it was on a boat to the UK, I collect on Wednesday. I recon it was actually built WK 27, 1 week ahead of schedule.

Just spoken to my dealer, Ridgeway Volkswagen, and have been told that the car is in the UK an en route to them. I should expect delivery some time next week :hyper:

Does seem odd though as I had build week 27, and I've noticed others on here with build weeks 27 and 28 have already received theirs :? Anyone know why this could be?

Got the keyring and just waiting for the keys to go on it

Fear not! Mine will be coming straight along the M4 to Bristol. The order went through Ridgeway as it's a company car through Leaseplan, and they have preferred dealers.

I've only ever seen two Salsa's on the road, one was the demonstrator at Bristol Volkswagen, and the other I passed at speed going the other direction on the M5, somewhere near to Tewkesbury.

I ordered it from ebay.de some time ago. Just did a search for interlagos, but reading the box "schlusselanhanger" should also do the trick

Thanks Bloke,

Looks like you got lucky with ebay, nothing there now in either name.

The only price I can find is from VW South Africa in Rand which looks like it translates to around 20 squid. I may just have to get myself one of these!
