Where to go from here?
After about 7 Years of Ownership , and many heart breaks including a timing chain failure i think it has come time to move on from my Scirocco later this year. After all that it has cost me , i still love the car and will miss it when i eventually find a replacement.
Where do i go from here? I am struggling to come up with ideas for a replacement. I am leaning towards a MK7 Golf R , as this seems like the next natural progression. I am sure the performance is on a complete other level , but i don't feel they are as special looking or have the road presence of the Scirocco.
I am also considering a move to a MK2 Audi TTS , has anyone gone from a Scirocco to a TT? I would also be tempted by a TTRS as i could get into a MK2 TTRS for the price of a MK7 Golf R , although i would imagine the cost of ownership of the TTRS would be significantly higher , but it would have that special 5 Pot Engine.
Would like to hear some feedback if anyone has replaced their Scirocco.
Thanks,
Darren

If you're considering the vehicles you've said, I'd also consider the RS3.

Re: Where to go from here?
I had the same dilemma at the end of 2016. I'd had my Scirocco since 2009 and when it was clear they were not going to make another I decided it was time for a change.
I bought a mk3 TTS. Love it. But the choice is limited. My other options were a Golf R (but I couldn't get past it being 'just a golf', Cayman (bit too expensive to buy and run for me) and the GT86 (didn't really float my boat tbh).

Hi all, I've just joined the group. First interaction.
I've gone the other way. Swapped an S3 for the Scirocco R. Wanted to get another Audi (looked at S5 & the TTS) but maintenance was a bit over the top.

Out of interest , what kind of maintenance stuff was over the top? I would have thought the TTS would be similar to the Scirocco R in terms of running costsBops wrote:Hi all, I've just joined the group. First interaction.

Re: Where to go from here?
The Audi was getting a long in the tooth & things were starting to fail. Mainly electrical. The advice I got from the local mechanic was that similar parts for VW were cheaper. Had issues with both fuel sensors, auto light sensor, corrosion in tail lights. Decided to get rid of it just before a $2400 major service.

Re: Where to go from here?
Id have a look at a TTRS(same engine as RS3)
Going for a TT/TTS is more of a side step from the scirocco. simular engines etc
May be worth booking in a test drive to see what you think.
Also depending on yoru budget, the M135/M140 are very decent and capable cars

I went from a Scirocco to a Jaguar F-Type R 8 weeks ago.
To me - a Golf is a step down plus they're everywhere, they just don't do it for me at all.

Re: Where to go from here?
I think if i was going for a Golf it would have to be the R. However the Clubsports are pretty awesome and would be a bit more rare so i would possibly consider one of those too.Zanic L3 wrote:What about a mk7.5 GTI?

Re: Where to go from here?
Hi
Test drive was great - although could not push it anywhere near it's limits with the sales guy sitting next to me. I will report back when i have had some proper time with it.
First thoughts are that it is amazingly quick with one of the best sounding engine notes!! Fit and Finish of the cabin is many levels above the Scirocco and feels like a much more special place to sit.
Was my first time driving an S-Tronic car but i am impressed with what i have experienced so far. Looking forward to trying out launch control
