Ordered the same, delivery in October - cant wait!
is the 170 a big improvement over the 140?

Yes the 170 seems much nicer.
I emailed Volkswagen about 3 months ago and found out about the 170 before the dealer did. Amazingly quiet inside the cabin, would not know it was a diesel apart from the masses of torque.
Good choice. Why would anyone want the 140 now?

Re: 170 Tdi
Many would argue that the extra cost for the 170 unit, compared to the 140 is too steep.
When I first looked at the Scirocco back in March, I was unsure wether to get the 140 TDI, or the 200 TSI - but when I heard that the 170 TDI would be available, it was a no brainer.
My friend has a Leon 170 TDI, and its great - he is very pleased with it. And thats the old PD TDI - so the CR can only be better :-)
Glad to hear that you are pleased with the engine - looking forward to seeing some online reviews of the Scirocco 170 TDI.

Re: 170 Tdi
Steve r: any visual differences between the 140 and the 170? Does yours have a red "i" on the "tdi" badge? Does it have normal brushed steel twin exhaust pipes, or does it have the chrome capping as on the 2.0TSI?
Black rooflining on yours?

No black rooflining, yes it does have a red "i" and I think the tailpipe is chrome capped as on the 2.0TSI.maisbitt wrote:Steve r: any visual differences between the 140 and the 170? No 170 badge in site.
Re: 170 Tdi
Ive just graduated and I plan to get this car in the next year or so.
Ive driven a diesel focus and I was very impressed with the way the car surges along. coming from a fiesta which i currently drive the difference eye opening. Im imagining the 170 engine will be amazing. This might be a stupid question but are you based in the UK? I didn't realise that you can get 170 rocs already! Also how noticeable is the rattle/clatter in the car. the weather has been good lately but does the car wheelspin the wet?
Hope ive not asked to many questions. Lastly congratualtions!!
