Rear springs cracked/broken !
My Scirocco R is from 2010 but has only done 32K miles (shameful I know!), and is garaged when not in use. Yet somehow in the last 500 miles of uneventful motoring both rear springs have cracked and need replacing. This seems very peculiar, given that the suspension is VW original equipment Has anyone else had a similar problem, and is there a known problem with the rear springs?

Sadly broken springs is very common on all VAG cars irrespective on how many miles they have done.

Out of interest, how did you know something was wrong in the first place?

Hi, thanks for that, I hadn't heard it was common. I hadn't noticed any symptoms - it was a pre-MOT check.

Speed bumps, pot holes they are the main problem, especially if you hit them fast.

Yes have had to have both of my rear springs replaced over last two years.
