Fitting skoda yeti chrome exhaust tips

Post by risingson »

Hi, I know this has been done zillions of times before, but I'm quite late to the game!

I followed skoda's fitting instructions, so that meant putting them on with the 'slash' running exactly from top to bottom (without cutting the original tail first).

But it looks like the slash on my original tails isn't quite top to bottom but more 1.30 o'clock to 7.30 o'clock, so that it follows the curve of the rear bumper more.

So should I be fitting the tips at the same angle (i.e. twisted about 30deg clockwise?) Diy installs I've seen have the clips exactly at top, bottom, left, right - ie it's not twisted. But they don't seem to have as much of an angle running right to left where the original tail meets up.

Should I just carry on hammering, as I don't think it's inside the rolled ends yet? I didn't want to continue in case I have to hammer them back off and change the angle.

Cheers - pics below.

I had a small gap on mine as well even when fully hammered in and aligned, once the carbon built up it wasn't really noticeable.

Cheers renaldo, I've just trimmed down my original post as it was rambling too much! Much better weather today to finish fitting them!

Thankfully they're easier to hammer on and off than I thought (if you prop the end of the car up on a kerb! [WINKING FACE]). So with some trial and error twisting them by about 30deg clockwise seemed to work best. Best £30 I've spent for a while! Before and after pics: ImageImageImageImage

Wait.. What?
These tips aren't standard? I have a 2009 2.0 TSI and they are on there exactly the same not sure if the owner fitted them after on.. Or mb they were standard on the 2.0TSI models?
