Adding a Sub to a RCD 510 (non sat nav) with dynaudio upgrad
Hi all..
This is my first post... so Hi to all your fellow Scirocco owners....
My pride and joy needs a little tweaking to make it "just right"..
the audio is lacking in the bass department and needs some help..
However i heard with the dynaudio set up the signal sent to the speaker is digal? therefore a hig level to rca convertor won't work??
does anyone know if a feed can be taken from elsewhere, liek for example the amp or the floor? or the head unit?
really interested in your thoughts and any possible resolve...

I'm interested in this as well.....
The dynaudio is brilliant but it lacks sub bass... I want to add the same as yourself!
Keep us informed if you get a answer....

You must be playing the wrong music, try BREATHE by THE PRODIGY. The Bass vibrates the rear view mirror so much i can't see out of it! It's not big and it's not clever i know!Martyn wrote:I'm interested in this as well.....

I second that.
Not got BREATHE on my ipod but have been listening to some wicked bass heavy house today at high volume with the bass on my RCD510 up at around 75% and it sounded the bees knees
Am not criticizing anyone who wants to take things a step further but I'm very happy with my Dynaudio as it is

No critism here either, i have been down the Halfords amp + sub route before and specced Bose on previous cars which had a dedicated sub. The thing with the Dynaudio setup is that it doesn't artificially add bass to a track which really doesn't have any in the first place.nickp wrote:jonallen628 wrote: You must be playing the wrong music, try BREATHE by THE PRODIGY. To get the most out of the system you need to be listening to CD's or Lossless Audio files on an Ipod attached to the MDI. I make do with variable bit rate files from a USB stick which probably loses some detail on tracks.
Would be interesting to know what the frequency range of the mid / bass drivers are on the dynaudio setup compared with a reasonable spec sub? As the unit combines the mid / bass functions they will never quite match up to stand alone bass drivers.
If you end up doing the mod make sure you post some details!

Hi,
I don't have the dynaudio package but I upgraded the system with a sub. I will post the pictures how I did it asap. I think it will be good guide for you..
Can you post some pictures of the doors with the dynaudio speakers?
Thanks

fur preout (for amp and sub) u need hi-low converter. U actualy put it on RCD speakers output on the back of the radio.
2. option is to find right wires on dynaudio sub and make another preout for sub

Re: Adding a Sub to a RCD 510 (non sat nav) with dynaudio upgrad
thanks for all the interesting comments...
for those who want a easy 3 step install process here it is..
It couldn't be easier...
1) push back the passanger seat....,
now removed the plactic cover...
this now shows the amp...
2) cut the red and brown and the white and brown wires...
(note from picture, i have used terminal blocks, this is only for testing, please ensure correct connections used on your set up to ensure no lost of sound).
3) now with the above cut, wire in you high to low convertor, (£3.99 from ebay).
hey presto, job done!
presuming you have already wired in the amp (power) and run a rca cable.
One problem came to light, running level GALA on the headunit can make the amp trip out.
you can either turn down the gain on the amp or turn down the GALA, which then by default the GALA headunit agjustment acts like a bass control.
next step for me... get a big arse amp and subs!!
enjoy
