Chipped 1.4 or standard 2.0?

Post by Pacemaker1000 »

Hi, my daughter is buying a new scirocco and can't decide as there are only limited stock available.
We have a 1.4 on test and tbh I thought it would be flat as a pancake but it goes far better than it's measly 125 bhp.
Got me thinking about a piggy back, plug and play unit like racechip as a quick safe boost back to where this engine should be if it wasn't detuned down. Supposed to be 156bhp after, bringing it closer to the 180 2.0. Plus will be two grand cheaper.
Also need to check on insurance for both

Haha :)
@OP let me know if you are interested in my old Ford Escort 1996. It has some sweet 46HP :yummy:

All jokes aside I have a 2.0tsi and would not suggest it, it's a spicy car the reason I got it was because of a good deal

for a new driver the 2.0tsi is quite lively in stock form. especially for a new driver.
1.4 seems practical. We all had to start with small engines right??

Standard 2.0 tsi rather than a mapped 1.4, less likely to have engine trouble.

You'll definitely have trouble with insurance declaring a remap for a new/young driver. Wouldn't recommend the 2.0 TSI for a new/young driver either.

Stick to the stock 1.4.

Why not get a 2.0 TDI?
2.0 tsi is a bit lively as I said, but your choice
