Retrofit new MIB into older RNS/RCD car.

Post by Icedog »

Hey!
I'd like to retrofit the new MIB unit into my 2012 Scirocco but can't find any good information about wiring or anything like that... Has anyone done this?

Ordered a adapter and a GPS Antenna, hopefully this will help me along the way. I will keep updating this thread if anyone else will need the information.

Pins 6 and 12 on the blue quadlock (the two pins in the middle) are the video in for the reversing camera.

You should say your diagram is looking into the plug from the pin side. If you're looking at the wiring side then it's mirror image.

Got a photo of the plug fitted into the back of a Discover media from a 2015 R showing some of the populated pins if it's useful. Don't know how to post it. Try and PM me.

I also wish to do this on a 2010 model.
Does it sit right in?
Dou you need a new facia trim?
Is it a matter of an adater cable?

Also. Why the gps cable? Did it not have gps on the old unit?

Drive to the dealer and show the papers were you bought it. Then they will remove it if they are kind.

Don't think that's gonna work. New actuator's name is 5F instead of 56 but i'll try.

*** UPDATE ***

Okay so the workaround i did was put the stereo unit in my friends Caddy 4th gen with the same type of stereo and remove the component lock then put it back in mine and woop woop! :hyper:

Hey,
Just a couple of questions since I'm evaluating this upgrade too:
1) do you still have media information (songs track, radio info) in the mfa display? Also navigation arrow?
2) do you still have climatronic information in the mib display?

Thanks!

1) Yes i do have audio info, cellphone dialing and the buttons on the steering wheels works as well to call and such. Not the navigation arrow tho.
2) No, there's no climatronic information on the screen but i like that since i had that function turned off on my RCD510.
