In: Candy White
With a: Manual box
Options: 19 inch lugano alloys , Metal pedals, satnav , DAB , leather , parking sensors , Red footwell LEDs , white led interior , hkb door sills , Needle sweep ,Horn beep on open/close , big speedo, drl deactivated, cornering fogs, An ocd for keeping it clean! Gloss black mirrors.

So its been a while since I posted last.
My car is coming up to its 5th birthday. And i recently received a call from vw saying it's due a service. I'm sure I read somewhere that the cr170 is due a cambelt change at 5 years or a certain mileage. Whichever comes 1st. Now am i right in thinking that? And how much am I looking at for it?

Yes, you're correct it's recommended the cambelt is changed at 5 years. Note it's a recommendation by VW UK and not one stipulated in the service book provided with the car. It could just be a revenue generator but personally it's not worth the risk.

My local VW dealer charges £345 or £399 with the water pump changed too.

So had a phone call from vw telling me it's due a service etc. And cambelt. They have said it's £484 including water pump fitted.

I can only assume the difference in price to my local dealer is labour rates.
