Yeah the build week was confirmed 43 but according to dealer is was built last week and is waiting to be shipped. Maybe yours might be early? Maybe brought forward to 43?

Two reasons. Firstly as it is so close to the end of the year I was thinking that an 09 registration date will help the residuals over an 08 reg in a few years time and secondly I'm expecting to go into hospital for surgery on my leg in late Nov early Dec - so I probably won't be able to drive for a few weeks - so on balance I said please don't register it until Jan 08. I only said 5th in my post because it is the most likely date they will do it after the holiday.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Hi Ken
Ahh OK, I was just a little confused as obviously the '09 reg is not released until March 2009, but I think you're referring to the resale value being better if it was registered in 2009, instead of 2008 (not '58 reg vs. '09 reg). Hope that makes sense!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Hi iambu
Spot on - still 58 plate but 09 rather than 08 as you say. It means that on paper the car is a year younger for the sake of waiting a couple of weeks. The hard bit will be knowing it is there and resisting the temptation to register it if only to get it home!

Hi Ken
Yep that makes sense, and sounds wise. But I don't think I'd be able to resist picking it up as soon as it was ready! Good luck!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
It will make Zero difference to residuals. Its still a 58 plate reg and thats what most folk look at.
I'd not pay a premium for a Jan registered car over a Dec registered car thats for sure. . . . .

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Yeah thats what the dealer said to me, cos I wanted to wait 10 days and get it registered in Nov instead of Oct as its not far away, so in the end I just went and got it now.Andy-GTI wrote:I'd not pay a premium for a Jan registered car over a Dec registered car thats for sure. . . . .

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I'm just back from slapping my cash on the table.
Confirmed build week 9 (as they had pre-ordered some build slots and that one fits with when I want it delivered).
Negotiations on my trade in and the possibility of any freebies will be done nearer the date but he suggested maybe the parking sensors or some teflon paint shine thing could be thrown in. That would suit me. I still have a little leeway on my trade in to play with too.
Now.... where do I find 24 grand

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Well done Kev finally joining the waiting list!!
Advised by my dealer today that my car, although down for week 45 is already on the production line, and is currently having the body shell fitted.
Hoping it will be finished off next week and be in the UK by the beginning on Dec (my hopes, not dealer estimate!)

Well, you know, your illustrious leader had to get in on the game at some point didn't he
At least I don't feel like the odd one out any more!
They have a viper green on order too and a new silver DSG one in the show room. I might see if I can go and have a gander at the green one when it comes in. No truffle leather ordered though. Doesn't seem to be as popular as I thought it would be.
