Post by miriam2elsa »

Messed up big style, whilst decelerating on slip road of motorway tried to put it into too low a gear.Allmighty bang and shudder coasted to halt.Engine runs clutch pedal was to floor. slight oil leak from gear box.
Car in main dealers £500 to srip and look.No information yet.I guess£500 for complete clutch.

Bloody hell....... 500 just to strip. You could get a diff installed for that.
Find out what your Gearbox code is and see if you can get a reconditioned one. I dont think id take it to dealers for a job like this though. Independent vw garage would be less harsh on your wallet

Bugger me, you have been bent over there.

Replacement gearbox from Ebay - £300
New clutch and flywheel - £500
Labour - 4 to 5 hours - around £250
