Hi,
I am having some intermittent issues with the windows when unlocking and starting the car.
Most of the time when i turn my ignition on the windows are really jerky when going up and make a clicking sound as if the motor is still trying to push them up even though they have already gone fully up.
Also sometimes when i go to open the door from the inside the window isn't dropping and i have to put the window down myself in order to open the door.
Im assuming these issues are related to the same cause, does anyone know what could be causing this ?
Thanks

Re: Window issues
Hi wadey,
Might be a bit of a long shot but if you reset the one touch feature it might work.
To reset just do as follows:
Run the windows down halfway on the manual controls
Close them fully and hold the control switch for 2-3 seconds
Release switch for a second or so
Hold in 'close' position for about 5 seconds
The windows should now function normally.
Let me know how it goes.

It's also worth, now and then, lubricating the edge of the windows and inside the rubber with something like silicone to prevent them sticking and confusing the system.

Gummi Pflege is your friend when it comes to lubricating rubber...Billc wrote:It's also worth, now and then, lubricating the edge of the windows and inside the rubber with something like silicone to prevent them sticking and confusing the system.

Re: Window issues
Now developed an issue of windows jumping up and down and the radio display flickering.
Have read somewhere that it could be the ignition switch, anyone have any experience with this ?

My money would be on the ignition too. When you pull the key out the windows drop and the radio is switched off. It sounds as if the little switch that detects the removal of the key is playing up.

Yes that's exactly what it's doing.
Do you know if it's a big job to change the switch ? Hoping it doesn't have to go back into vw not had much luck with this car Haha.
