Help please!!!

Post by Fowler88 »

Could someone please help me I have a 61 plate scirocco 2.0 tdi I had an error on the dash saying front dipped beam bulb out! I thought not a problem as I've changed these before I turned the h7 bulb holder and removed it to see it was burnt out! I've been to the main dealer for them to say they don't make these anymore and they have changed them it would be roughly £170 for a new style bracket to be fitted they need to remove the bumper I said Iam not paying that are you mad I've searched everywhere to try and find one of these but can't find them any help would be great thanks Luke

Hi, Luke,

I'll preface this reply with the very important fact that I am no expert, but I put "scirocco h7 bulb holder" into Google, and got a load of images surface which looked plausible. Several linked through to EBay and look like small units with a couple of wires coming off. Am I missing something here (apart from a lot of common sense, perhaps?!)

Failing that, if the bit you need is a much larger lump of kit, do you have any local car breaker yards which might strike lucky?

Well I was unsure if they fitted/ worked or not as they are holders that are used for a hid upgrade? The original bulb holder fit with pushing the h7 bulb so connectors touch with bulb then basically push in and turn to the right. I be tried loacal breakers but nothing at the minute just have try drop on I suppose!!

Can't seem to find the part you're looking for online though I know what you're talking about.

Either way sounds like they're pulling your leg a bit, can buy an entire new headlight for around £100, 10 minute job to fit and doesn't require removing the bumper at all...

Charlie,

I agree with you about the speed of fitting a replacement headlight unit - my 15 year old daughter gave me a hand putting in a new bulb and we ended up removing the light unit to get to it (too fiddly to simply twist the old one out and put the new bulb in). Ten minute job as you say.

There's a small guide in the Roccopedia knowledge base: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... ht_Removal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Really is just 7 screws and a removal of the plug, no taking bumper off or anything.

Ideally yeah try and get a bulb holder ordered from the dealer, surely they must stock them, car isn't that old really... just don't let em rip you off, only mentioned buying a complete new headlight as it's significantly cheaper than £170 (plus you get a brand new shiny headlight), in my opinion that "new style bracket" is a load of bullshit.
