2.0tsi Chain?
Hi,
Been doing some research online and can't locate a solid yes or no.
I understand that it is a good idea to replace the timing chain / tensioner on a 2.0tsi pre 2012 for an updated 2012 revision tensioner, is this correct? There seem to be a lot of people saying definitely get it done on a mk6 golf, however very little information surrounding the rocco!
2.0tsi owners, who has had this done? How much did it cost? And has anyone not bothered?
Thanks

Re: 2.0tsi Chain?
the mk6 gti engine is the same as the 20T in the scirocco.
Ive had my tensioner changed. you dont really need to change the chain, its more the tensioner. I cant remember the part number for the revised tensioner but its only so you'll have to do a bit of digging.
Your looking at about 3-400 quid to get it done but better to pay that than a few grand for a new engine!

The tensioner you want is : 06K-109-476-K
Previous tensioners: 06H-109-467-N and 06H-109-467-T have been known to fail

Re: 2.0tsi Chain?
Is there any easy way to check to see if it has already been done?Paradox1 wrote:Do it now! lolSTEVIE-B wrote:Mine has just hit 94KParadox1 wrote:Thats it mate, yoru welcome,

Re: 2.0tsi Chain?
Definitely worth doing for piece of mind! Mine failed and cost me £1k+ that was for parts alone, labour was cheap as I helped a friend as we fixed it ourselves.

It is advisable to change the chain as well.Paradox1 wrote:the mk6 gti engine is the same as the 20T in the scirocco.

The new tensioner will put strain on the old chain after about 10000km.
