Remap question.

Post by TDiNumpty »

Hi guys. Going to get my Rocco remapped. But know about the possibility of needing to cut out the ECU. That's not a problem but is there anyway to tell if I need to do it or not? I don't want to cut it out only to find out he can nap it from ODB port. Thanks.

Cut it out??

Most maps are dont from the OBD2 port. where are you taking it to be mapped. Worst case is if there is already a map on the ECU and its locked down then it may need to be removed and mapped on a bench. not a problem for a tuner who know what there doing though.

where are you taking it to get remapped

You can map over obd2 without issue.
Some places remove ECU and enable obd mapping but depends on the tool theyre using.
Who is doing the remap?

Getting premier tuning to do it. Really nice guy. Done a great job on my old 118d. When I asked him he was just mindful that it might be a bit of work getting the ECU out and would rather I did the cutting on that side of things.

The ECU is easy to remove.
But your tuner should be competent removing and opening it.

If not then I would not use them to be honest.
