Drivers door central locking

Post by joness009 »

I'm hoping for help
Today after switching car off and removing the key I heard the locks open but the drivers door wouldn't actually open!! Rolled window down and opened from outside. On closing the door and pressing fob to lock the drivers door had a clicking noise, wouldn't lock. I've tried slamming the door, factory reset the settings in the convenience menu but still to no avail. I've only had car for 3 weeks and love it but this has got me frustrated. PLEASE PLEASE can someone advise. Is there a way of locking the car without the remote? This is my first forum so please forgive me if I'm in wrong place. Thanks Steve.

There is a cover on the Driver's door handle that can be removed and the key be used to lock / unlock. Be aware if you lick with the key and unlock with the fob or vice versa the alarm will go off. Alarm will go off when you switch on tbe ignition.

Locking the door with the key might not work either as it sounds as though it could be the door control module that's faulty.

Thanks for your assistance. I went and opened then closed both doors and tailgate then it seemed to clear the problem but suspect it may come back

only had it 3 weeks? Take it back to where you got it unless you bought it private? if private then you know someone with VCDS?

I've had a similar problem where my central locking wouldn't work properly , turns it out was the ignition switch, when you pull the key out the ignition switch might still be pushed in a little . Just flick it with your finger and it pops out. I got mine replaced under warranty so not sure how much it costs if that is the problem

it was approx £300 to have the ignition switch replaced on mine. Having read about it since as long as you don't need to change the lock barrel it should be possible to DIY the switch which would be much cheaper.
