Aux port only has left speaker output.
Hi guys, new to the forum so apologies if this has been asked before. I have just bought my first scirocco but the aux port only plays music out the left side speakers. I know it's not the aux cable as I bought a new one and have tested it in my other car and works fine. Also all speakers work superbly when using the CD player/radio/SD card. I changed the head unit balance to only play through the right side speakers and when the aux was plugged in you could hear music at a very low volume and then when I restored the speaker balance to play equally through both speakers the left side speakers played at normal volume and right side didn't change (assuming it stayed at he very low volume).
Sorry if I have confused anyone. Please can anyone help.
Cheers

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
Is your audio source definitely a stereo output?
Does it have a mono setting?
If it's definitely a stereo output and you've confirmed the cable is OK, then it can only be Aux-in connector or broken wire between the Aux-in connector and the headunit
I take it you juggled the plugs in each of the sockets to see if it's a bad connection?

Yeah it's definitely a stereo output. The cable is fine. I've switched each end and it's the same result.
I'm certain it's the car not the cable nor music source.

Sounds dumb. Try yet another Aux cable.
Aux cables can be very very very weird.

Sounds even dumber, but say you have a for some odd reason a firm socket(might neve been used) normal AUx cable will be flush in the socket, have you ensured it's fully in, also I've had this on aeroplanes using my Phone headset, try pulling it out one notch, see what happens? got VAgcom? do you have Aux-MDI monitoring on? dunno if that helps just saw the setting the other day

That's for your reply guys. I've had it fully in then pulled it out one notch then pulled it out one more notch. Just always plays through the left side. The sound through the right was mighty quiet when I changed the balance of the speakers to right only. I have the rn510 and I have gone into the set up menu disabled aux and then enabled it again which made no difference. Sorry, what's vagcom? New to all this [emoji16] thanksTechnane wrote:Sounds even dumber, but say you have a for some odd reason a firm socket(might neve been used) normal AUx cable will be flush in the socket, have you ensured it's fully in, also I've had this on aeroplanes using my Phone headset, try pulling it out one notch, see what happens? got VAgcom? do you have Aux-MDI monitoring on? dunno if that helps just saw the setting the other day

VAG-COM is an plication you use in combination with a cable that you can connect to your car and adjust its settings,
Also RNS-510 have you upgraded it? IE how olds the car? how old is the version of MAPS and such ?
Also there are MDI upgrades U have to use the USB lead then a set of USB pen Drives to do that upgrade tho.

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
I have only owned the car about 4 days, it's a 59 plate. I have no idea if it has ever been upgraded. Maps seemed to have the new Road layouts though. From your Knowledge do you think it's a software related issue or some physical wiring issue?Technane wrote:VAG-COM is an plication you use in combination with a cable that you can connect to your car and adjust its settings,

Speculatively Hardware but upgrading the software wouldn't bloody hurt lol, if you chop up a Loyalty card you can slot it into the two slots towards the driver's seat, if you stick in the cut up pieces of loyalty card you can then lift out the mdi, and then you can get your hand into the hole and to the rear side of the Aux port. Probably not a very good explanation.

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
Another thing you could try, is to have a little poke around in the connector with a wooden cocktail stick or similar thing (nothing metal!). Also maybe hoover the connector as well during or after. With you having a weak right signal there could be something in there. It would only take lint and dust to cause this.
I don't use my aux connection but often get a build of crap in the ports on my phone which causes issues.
Worth a try I think.

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
Hi chaps, No luck, tried all the above. The car does have a Bury blue tooth kit installed by the previous owner. Could this be affecting aux? The Bluetooth uni does allow music playback but for some reason it sounds crap and no settings to adjust the tone.

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
Only odd thing i can find about that,
it seems you actually put the bury kit in line with the passenger side Speaker (Normal use) so actual audio from the caller comes out of just that speaker, and as far away from the mic as possible.
be interesting to know when on Call audio if that's the case and the speaker it comes out of is the same as the one that's not working when you hook up AUX
only found that out reading this. http://www.bury.com/consumer/fileadmin/ ... ual_EN.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so I'm speculating.
