Cleaning the throttle body on 1.4 TSI

Post by Komar »

Hy,
I just noticed couple of weeks ago when I remove the TB pipe, and press the gas pedal, the area around the the valve is not terrible but it has some smudge around when its closed...
Can i safely apply the sprey cleaner around the TB?
Will i need to be doing the adaptation with vcds? ( i have te wag-com)
The car is 122ps version.

From knowledge of the OLD Golf GTI engines TB, you only had to re-calibrate the throttle body if you disconnected it, not if you cleaned it, however having someone in car while you clean it, is a big trust exercise, they let off that throttle and TB will eat your fingers!

Yeah i know for the fingers :), it is dangerous but i can put a brick or something on gas pedal and it should be fine...
Olso when the pedal is fully pressed, the vale opens and the whole thing is making that annoing sound.....I supouse that is not a problem while cleaing the TB?
So If I do a little spray and wipe around the valve everything should be fine when I start the car? No strange behavior of the car...

I'd normally use Throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush to give it a good clean. not sure what you mean by noise though?
