Black spots all over car??
Hey guys I've had my scirocco for about 3 weeks now
And I would usely go take it to a car wash and let them do ot so I decided todo it myself today to release there was tiny black dots all over car
Like i scrubbed as hard as I could and I was just about getting them off
They would smugs like oil or something like I had to dig my nail in to just about get them off
Like I've no clue what it could be :/ any ideas what it could be????
It was as hard as paint but when you rubbed it very hard it would leave a smuch like black oil :/????

Probably tar spots. Use tar remover to get rid

Definitely tar. Don't pick it off with nail or whatever because it will leave a black oil like mark . Can only get rid of with either a clay bar or tar remover. It's tar. So driving on fresh tarmac would cause it.

Yep don't do it. Makes it look worse than just a black dot.Willyjay212 wrote:That's exactly what it does it leaves a black oily mark when you rub it hard

I know Halfords stock autoglym and they make a tar remover. How good it is I don't know. But got to be better than nothing

The autoglym stuff is great. Never tried other brands but dab on with a cloth leave couple mins then wipe off with rag with a bit of the solution on and comes right off. If bad you can also put some in a spray bottle and spray the offending body panel.
I know clay is often said to be used for tar but had limited luck with that method myself.

Re: Black spots all over car??
The autoglym stuff is pretty good but its expensive. Assuming you've washed your car before hand and it's clear bar the tar then petrol on a microfiber will remove the tar spots for a fraction of the cost of a dedicated target remover (1 litre of petrol £1.20 'v' 500ml of tar remover from Halfords £8+). I've used petrol on a microfiber for years without issue. Just be sure to wash the car again after you've taken the tar off. Though you'll need to do this anyway no matter what you use to remove the tar.
If you must use a tar remover the Autosmart Tardis is probably the best you can get but you'll need to find your local Autosmart sales rep and it only comes in 5 litre tins (usual around the £20-25 mark).

The best tar remover is Autosmart Tardis.
You can buy it from Ebay as long as you buy from trusted sellers. Best bet is your Autosmart rep.

From what I know and heard yes it is.
But it's only available in 5 litre cans. So if you only need a little bit no point buying 5 litres. There is other brands that sell tar removers in 500ml but they are not as cheap. Auto finesse and dodo juice both sell tar removers.

I think 5L of Tardis is around 18quid.
Worth it. You can also buy it on Ebay in smaller quantities.
