Door Mirror - coloured rear capping replaceable?

Post by markjp »

Can you replace just the coloured rear capping on the door mirrors.

Another driver hit my door mirror driving too close and now it has a large scuff on it. Mine are gloss black.

If you can buy the capping does anyone know the price of the part.

Thanks
Mark

Yes you can just buy the cap although the OEM part comes primered so you need to get it painted.

You can buy pre-painted pattern parts off eBay although the quality is not as good as OEM.

A quick search brings these up

Thanks.

I assume if a pair are £99 on ebay, the OEM versions will be more expensive.

Not necessarily but as I said they would still need painted. Just give your local TPS or Dealer a call.

If you need to paint a new one might be cheaper to ask your local body shop to repair the current one (and repaint of course). If the repair is cheaper than the new part then you're quids in.

I wanted black wing mirror covers on my Candy White Scirocco. I bought these:

Only £14.99 for a pair!

They come pre-primed, so just bought some gloss black spray paint and lacquer. Going to paint them on Monday, hopefully the result will be good.

They seem well made, all in all, only cost me £25 with paint.

Any spray painting tips would be good, haha!
