Keyless Entry Issue

Post by pol2825 »

Hi team,

Looking for some guidance on the KESSY system. I recently got my new R-Line TDI, very happy ! :shake: :p  Slight issue with the keyless system in that when I press the door handle indent (button) the car will not lock. The car does unlock when I approach and touch the handle. Any you guys any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pol

I'm not too familiar with the system but won't the car lock when you walk away and remove the key from the proximity of the car?

Don't believe so. The youtube vids are showing press the button on the handle and I'm sure the sales dude did the same so hopefully I'm not being thick !

Have you checked what the owners manual says?

The natural way (to me) to press the lock indent is to wrap fingers round the handle and press the lock indent with your thumb. This doesn't work as the fingers are pressing the unlock area while the thumb is pressing the lock indent so it doesn't do anything. This happened to me for the first few days before I realised what was happening.

You need to press the lock indent with other parts of your hand away from the unlock area. Becomes very clear once you realise what's happening. Could this be your problem?

Other things that stop it locking is if you leave the ignition on (think it bleeps then though) or if your DSG isn't in P.

And no it doesn't lock itself when you take the keys out of the zone, you need to press the button.

Thanks chelspeed. You naturally put your hand round the handle while pressing the dimple. Solved. Don't wrap your hand round the handle, just press the dimple.
