DSG service not done on a car with 62k miles
I bought my used Scirocco last September (2015) from a VW dealer with one year warranty, full VW service history, DSG 2009 with 62k~ miles. Car is now on just under 69k.
I've contacted my local dealer this week as it was due a service, and they've just come back and said that it needs a major service and there is also no history of the DSG ever being serviced, which came as a bit of a surprise, seeing that it was fully serviced and MOT'd by the dealer before sale, and FVWSH etc. I understand that the DSG should be serviced every 40k and was always under the impression that it had been done and wouldn't have to worry about it until 80k.
I know the service itself wouldn't be covered under any sort of warranty as it's wear and tear, but do you think I've got a leg to stand on in arguing this a bit, or should I just take the plunge? The dealer is the same one I bought it from too. Guess I'm just a bit annoyed at the £550+ bill, when I thought all it needed was a minor.
Any thoughts or previous experience appreciated
Could be worth bringing up the 112 checks? http://www.vw.com/content/dam/vwcom/PDF ... -22-13.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Saw your locality - was the car bought from one of the two Cornish delaerships, or slightly further afield?
I'm a customer of one of them and it would be useful to know which has upset you !

If you're referring to Helston and Indian Queens, then yesDeagol wrote:Saw your locality - was the car bought from one of the two Cornish delaerships, or slightly further afield?

When I was interested in buying it, the car was actually located at the Helston branch, however on ringing them they'd actually moved it to Indian Queens, which is where I purchased it. Both part of the same (Helston Garages Ltd) franchise, so I'd say equally responsible.
The bloke I'm in contact with regarding the service is from the Helston branch, contacted that one simply because it's closer therefore more convenient.

They had to perform this service before the sold it too you.
It's there mistake they didn't notice it before but also partially yours by not asking if it had been done.
Maybe you can split the costs?

Sent back a bit of a disgruntled email but he's come back and basically just ignored it and just said that they can do it but this is the price...
Not best pleased but to be honest I just wanna get it done, had I known sooner it would've been done shortly after buying it.

could try contacting VW support from their website, when I had a problem with dealers I complained on there and a nice guy sorted it all out for me

Get the work done elsewhere that dealership actions are disgusting, so why give them more money, car should have had all servicing done before sale

Re: DSG service not done on a car with 62k miles
I would think that the car's service history should have been checked before it went back on the forecourt and omitted work done. If it was an MoT test, they have checked, so what about the VW service requirements?
I can fully understand you could be looking to go elsewhere for future work on the car.
Have you thought to phone the Plymouth VW people for an opinion (I don't think they are in the same group of companies)?
And yes, I would refer the matter to VW Customer Services too.

Re: DSG service not done on a car with 62k miles
After their last email I went ahead and contacted VW direct (thanks for the idea!) by email explaining the situation, they've called me back this morning and said it's completely out of order and the car should've never left the forecourt in that condition. They're now in contact with the garage to tell them off basically.
They're going to pay for the DSG service and possibly even fund some of the major service as well as a good will gesture, which would be great as that's the bulk of the bill! Just waiting for a confirmation call before Tuesday but it's looking good

I've had good results with letters to VWUK....unlike the dealerships that are a complete shambles, usual deny everything, say no faults found etc
Dealership will try to weasel out of everything, takes going to VWUK to kick them up the ass before they do their bloody job.
