Hello guys, so I've seen its pretty common for the sciroccos to get carbon build up in the engine and I wanna know your opinions about them?
I'm mainly talking about the ones you add to the fuel.
My dad who's a mechanic says don't touch it, if it ain't broken. So I wanna know what you lot think about it?
I tend to use the higher octane fuel aswell so lemme know what yous think.
Thanks
Engine cleaners? Yes or no? Premium fuel?

On direct injection engines (as the Sciroccos are), any sort of fuel additive type engine cleaners won't touch the inlet valve carbon build up, as this happens before the fuel is added (your Dad being a mechanic should understand this), hence why carbon build up is such a problem on these engines

True petrol treatments wont help inlet valve buildup but it will keep injectors clean and help cylinder head buildup, I use BG44K once a year and can highly recommend, see utube for inlet cleaning, I use Liqui Moly valve cleaner mixed with petrol

you won't be getting any cylinder head build up with direct injection.
Totally pointless. it will always happen with direct injection (carbon build up on inlet) pcv good oil and better fuel does help

Every petrol engine will produce carbon its a natural process, that's why you endup with poor injector spray pattern ect, wish it was true but we are where we are

I had to take my inlet valve off and clean by hand but, oh my god, the difference it makes is incredible.
