Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!!!
I parked my car on my driveway and came out of the house a couple of hours later to find my windows and sunroof open.
I closed the windows and attempted to close the sunroof with no success..... I press the button inside the car to close it but it won't move. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the switch area when I press it but no movement -suspect the motor has given up the ghost!
Is there anyway to manually close the sunroof or will I just have to wrap the car up for the evening and pray the weather forecast is wrong and we have no rain overnight!!!

Thought I'd share an update of my dilemma......
I covered my car with a plastic sheet overnight and managed to keep the interior dry.
I spoke to my local VW dealer this morning who informed me there is no manual override to close the sunroof! They managed to squeeze me in today to diagnose the fault.
I collected the car a few hours later fearing the worst, either an open sunroof or a big bill for parts to be replaced. To my surprise the sunroof was closed and they cured the problem without replacing anything. Apparently they carried out basic settings on the sunroof (I guess this is some sort of software reset?) then checked it's operation.
Also no faults were in the system.

Hi,
Glad to hear that there was no major fault. I had a similar thing where it wouldn't close by the button but it did when I tried with the key. I didn't open it again fearing the worse unto my misses opened it forgetting the issue. Since then it has operated fine and fingers crossed it was just a one off. Bet it's not cheap to replace the motor.

Did this work for you, Phil? I'm having a similar issue. I opened it up today while heading back from the store, and now it won't close back at the house.Phil wrote:Anymore on this mate? if you take off the trim around the map lights, and expose the motor, you can manually crank the sunroof close with a torx bit and ratchet. Mine got stuck open last year, manually closed fully and its been perfect ever since.
Not sure if they come out of sync with open/close positions of the motor over time

Didn't need to in the end mate, left it overnight and issue had resolved itself.RigBeard wrote:Did this work for you, Phil? I'm having a similar issue. Hi,
Had the same problem few times. Now sunroof stuck for ages.
Anyone has any idea what should be repaired/replaced?
Thanks.
EDIT:
I had to use alien key and lift down a little bit sunroof. Motor started to work again... I'm curious how long?

Hey guys, so I just ran into the same issue. Roof wouldn't close and you just hear clicking when holding the button in.
I managed to sort it. I pressed down on the roof (not too firmly) and gave it a few mild taps with my hand while my lady continuously pressed the button and the roof closed.
Opened and closed it a few times afterwards to make sure it wasn't just a once off. Hope this helps!
I'll test it out later again and see if the issue is fixed permanently.
