What next?
Hi,
Next year i will be looking for a new car. Don't worry top of my list is a Rocco R.
But i just worry that with having a 2.0 TSI GT that the change will not be as exciting as a completely different car.
Would be looking 2nd hand around the 20k mark around 3 years old and under 40k miles, bit more if the right one comes along.
Anyone gone from a 2.0 TSI to an R? How was it?
Any other car suggestions? Wanting a coupe look! Problem is i don't think there is much out there that matches the looks of the Rocco.
Thanks

Re: What next?
It was a big change for me, but my R has a lot of options my GT didn't - I see what you mean about it not being as exciting, and can almost agree but i'd wanted this particular R for some time
Would say there is a noticeable difference in fuel consumption...

Re: What next?
I thought I was getting 32ish on the old one and on my commute I could get home with an average of 40mpg if driven well. With the R id say about 22mpg and same commute im pushing it to get over 30selleym wrote:What were you getting HP/MPG with you Tuned GT Vs the R?philjay92 wrote:It was a big change for me, but my R has a lot of options my GT didn't - I see what you mean about it not being as exciting, and can almost agree but i'd wanted this particular R for some time

Re: What next?
What was the difference in performance HP wise?
Re: What next?
rocco R is 265 standard and the GT is 200 or 210 model dependent.
I don't think the change would be worth it but that's my opinion.
if performance is what your after, you just need the turbo really as the GT injectors & fuel pump is enough for 400bhp.
If its the road presence your after then go for the R.

Re: What next?
I'd say go for it and get the R if it is at the top of your list. You've already acknowledged that it won't be as exciting as getting a completely different car, so I don't think you'll be disappointed. I went from a brand new 13 plate 210PS GT to a brand new 16 plate 280PS R, and there's very little difference between them really. But there is a nice novelty in getting the latest model, and that feeling hasn't faded yet, after 3 months.
Why not buy a brand new R instead of a used one - then it'll feel like more of a treat (and you get that lovely 'new car' smell!)?
In terms of fuel consumption, I've only noticed a slight difference - I was getting 40-45mpg in the 2.0 TSI, and I'm getting 35-40mpg in the R.

I've got a Golf 6R. They are defiantly a 'rare' car.. especially as there is a Golf 7R on every street in the UKselleym wrote:HAHA! Well if they would hurry up and make a Scirocco mk4!
