My R is ready for it's major service and I'm not keen on taking it to my local volkswagen dealer as I have heard that it is best for me to take it to an independent VW Specialist. Is this true?
Also not so keen on paying £329 for an apprentice to have a look around my vehicle.
What would you guys recommend? The only reason i'm feeling slightly inclined to go with main dealer is to gain any new software updates etc that they will provide.
It currently has full VW service history
Thanks

That's the problem when the dealership has a big glass window, they can see you coming from a mile off:-)Redpastyboy wrote:Just had a major service on mine. £51 per spark plug??!!!

Just think of it as £100 for the service and £229 for the stamp. Doesn't seem so bad then.
Would you buy a 3 year old car that had service stamps from an independent rather than a main stealer? If you would and are confident others would too then don't worry. If you think they may not then the stamps are money well spent.

i think the main problem is that people don't know nothing about cars.
most believe stupidly think that a VW stamp in the service book means the cars been looked after.

Had a 3 year major service at vw only got 17000 on the clock.cars on a service plan and dealership didn't change the plugs asked why said don't need replacing till 4 yrs old I said wanted them renewing as next service just oil change and eventually agreed to change them but did they?think that you get better service going to someone you trust.
