Climate change

Post by Roc Hopper »

Ok before you all slap your heads & think this is about greenhouse gasses (especially you R racers out there, you know who you are :) ) this is not a crusade on behalf of the greens

So a couple of weeks ago I popped down to Bournemouth for my lil bros stag & during the trip I noticed that there were periods when it simply wasn't cold enough - I always drive at 18* or lower unless she's in the car in which case the dual mode gets hammered, but driving back from karting the climate wasn't cutting it

No probs I thought Walter was due a service & while he was in I got him re gassed & de bacteriaed thinking that would solve the issue

Not so

This weekend I drive him to my pals wedding cross country - the whole country & then a whole nother country to Tenby - gods own seaside town

Inspite of horrendous traffic courtesy of half term & the bank holiday weekend the AC was fine for two hours then it seemed to block up in the dash. I tried turning it to auto & it set at 22* - no use to me so I tried turning it off but only could stand five minutes at a time. Eventually I put it on full and after several minutes (5-10) the air started coming through cool at first then the "blockage" seemed to clear & the cold came back

It's pretty frustrating but I've never noticed it before as these are the two longest journeys I've done in him. I always drive with the air con on winter & summer & the recent re gas should have sorted any lost coolant as he's now pushing 5

Any of you guys got any ideas or experience of this kind of thing ??

Just a thought, but could it possibly be freezing up, driving for long periods with the aircon on cold could have caused a pipe/connection to freeze, hence the warmer air, then it melts, letting colder air through, then freezing up again

Only thinking out loud as i don't know much about how car aircon systems work

Was your automatic air recirculation turned on?
When it defects bad air quality it doesnt blow fresh air but starts recirculating it through the car.
You can hear it switch on and off by listening to the air flow.
