So I'm gonna renew my plates but they're spaced as follows:
(e.g) [S18 ELM]
Can I change the space to this:

Hey. Technically legally you can't change the spacing and your normal plate suppliers won't miss space them for you.
You can order 'show plates' online and design them anyway you want.
My reg is K77 SSG but had it spaced K77SS G, kept proper font and sizing and not had a problem in 3 years.

designing new plates...Help plz
I got pulled by an arse of a copper in a van with nothing better to do who gave me a rectification notice.
Played dumb and got no fine but it's not worth risking a second time round.
You'll probably have nothing to worry about though, loads of people I've seen have had them for years without a problem !

Hi - this is just IMHO, so please forgive me if it sounds harsh to anyone with an illegally spaced numberplate ;-) It's nothing personal !
I really like some private plates when they say something without resorting to illegal spacing or strangely placed screws, odd letter fonts etc. Granted they cost the most.
Illegally spaced plates annoy me massively for some reason (I'm not a policeman either before you ask!)... It's like - hey you can pull me over anytime as I am breaking the law all the time I am out on the road - look at me! Also always thought if there is set of cars caught on a speed camera, the illegally plated one would be then one they'd pursue if they there was quota to fill.
Again just IMHO not trying to be argumentative.

IMHO illegally spaced plates look rank!
Can't see why you'd want to skirt the legality of your motoring and risk catching the attention of the authorities for something so daft.
But then I don't do private plates anyway

Bought my plate a few weeks ago; D5 MVW. Have a cheap set of MOT plates from Halfrauds, and a set of decent looking ones (carbon fibre gel in legal font) laid out as D5M VW. So far, no issues (touch wood).
Yes, the law does say that you cannot change the spacing; however there's plenty of other things that'll get pulled for before anyone gets uppity about where you put the space. Stick to legal fonts and don't drive like a pleb & you should be just fine!
