Bluetooth music

Post by paddyz1 »

Can anyone tell me their software version of the RNS510 where they can play music through Bluetooth. The phones work fine through Bluetooth but when I go into media the Bluetooth button is always greyed out so I can't select it.

I want a software version where it does work and I will install that instead to see if it solves the problem.

Bluetooth streaming is a feature of the Bluetooth kit, not the RNS510.

I have the Bluetooth and everything works fine apart from playing music. It used to play music from the phone and had what was being played displayed on the RNS510. I updated the firmware and have lost music but got guidance and compass on the MFD. I can't remember the version I had previous so I want a firmware version that is confirmed to work so I can load that

So your Bluetooth unit is music streaming compatible. That's what I meant, as some Bluetooth kits don't support streaming. It would be pointless chasing a streaming function if your Bluetooth didn't support it. Now you say you've updated the RNS and lost the function (would've been a good idea if you'd said that previously...)

Do you know what firmware you had previously? Do you know what firmware you've updated to? Did you save the long coding from the previous version before you upgraded the firmware?

Hi all, since fitting my OE Bluetooth telephone, it bothered me that I could never get my phone (Galaxy s6) to play any audio via Bluetooth. The phone part works great. So today I got vcds connected up and found out how to make it work. Go into 77 telephone....07 coding...long coding helper...byte 6 multimedia function (Bluetooth audio) inactive. Simply uncheck the box...close the box then "do it!"....
It works!!! Yeay!...and the track listing comes up on the radio screen and on the dash....can't believe it's that simple!...
Works every time now, even with you tube!...you won't be able to watch videos though..

Yep, it's always a coding issue when people upgrade RNS firmwares and stuff stops working. If people would just think before throwing firmwares at them then they'd have far less issues. Just copying the units coding first and then reapplying it afterwards would sort any possible issues.

However, your problem was fixed by a phone module coding change. That shouldn't have been affected in this case with an RNS firmware update.

I tried the coding last time it was suggested to me but it did not work. Mr Ade, what firmware are you using?

Have you got a saved VCDS scan log from the car which was done before you updated the RNS firmware?...
