Collected my Sumatra GT 2.0 Yesterday ***Pics Added***

Post by steve »

I got a surprise call from my dealer yesterday telling me that the car had arrived - a week earlier than expected! So I took a day off work and went to collect it.

Had a 240 mile drive home and couldn't resist a little blast here and there along the way. It's great to have a fast car again - I've been tootling about in an old Golf Tdi for the past months while I've waited for this.

The car felt better than I remembered from the test drives. Great sporty note from the exhaust and not a bad cruiser on the motorways either.

Just planning my day now...... what to do? what to do?

Yes the drive home was a real bore ;)

I stopped at the services on the M1 and someone drove over to "admire my car" :) I've not had that since I got rid of my old Boxster a few years ago.

I'll try to get some photos of it up later (don't expect anything as professional as those fom polts23 though)

Couldn't resist getting the camera out, here it is:

I just love the Sumatra paintwork! Got to confess I'd had second thoughts about ordering a car whose colour I'd not seen before getting it but glad I took the plunge now :) the truffle leather looks great with it too.

A brave combination of choices that has totally paid off - it looks gorgeous mate! Now you just need to set aside a day for the obligatory wash, polish, wax etc. Another 'chore' that you'll love doing! Very nice indeed

What colour is Sumatra - it's quite difficult to tell?! Is it brown or grey?

I deliberated about the colour as well but went for Pewter Grey in the end, just collected mine last Friday. Sumatra is something i would love to see in the flesh but not seen one as yet, pictures vary alot from what i have seen but would like to see in day light becuase i think it looks nice from what i have seen. Its a bit different which is alway turns heads on a nice looking car.

It's a dark grey with copper metallic flakes. When the sun hits it the metallic copper colour shines through and the paintwork really comes to life. I love it!

On the German VW site they have all the same colours except Pewter and Sumatra.
They do have a Dark Maroon metallic - does that sound like Sumatra ? Such a difficult colour to judge from pics on the web.

Car does look great in Sumatra but would agree with the comments on the truffle leather, Not for me! A bit too in you face, think black would be better.
